I’m a bit paranoid about protecting our camper, so non-toxic antifreeze like this from Winter Pruf is something I use at the end of the camping season every year. There are three different procedures you can use to winterize your camper: drain the lines, blow the lines out with air pressure and pump non-toxic anti-freeze into your lines and fixtures. I do all three in sequence, but the use of antifreeze is probably the best single procedure to protect your rig. Some pay considerable fees to have this done for them, but I think winterizing your camper is a basic procedure you need to be able to do yourself. The instructions on the bottle would have you add this anti-freeze to your fresh water tank. I would recommend against that. Watch some YouTube videos and learn how to use the bypass valves in you camper. You most likely have a hose near your pump that will draw the antifreeze right out of the jug and pump it through your system. You don’t want to pump this product into your water heater, so just remove its drain plug to drain it and then use the bypass valves to pump the antifreeze through your lines. As far as I can tell this is an excellent product that is equivalent to other antifreeze I have used.
The cost of this product was way too much. We found the same item at our local store $3.99. The product is good but the price needs reviewed.
Living in a colder area with an RV parked in the driveway means winter prep is no joke. I wanted something non-toxic and safe for our water system, especially since we’ve got kids and dogs around. This antifreeze checked every box.Pumped it through the RV lines in under 30 minutes and felt great knowing it’s alcohol-free and won’t damage anything. It doesn’t smell weird, and I didn’t need gloves or extra ventilation like with harsher stuff I’ve used before.Held up fine through a few cold snaps already—temps dipped below zero and no issues at all. Definitely keeping this brand in rotation for winterizing from now on.
I ordered this ‘WINTER PRUF® RV Antifreeze for Winterizing Non Toxic, Alcohol Free’ to use to winterize my pool water lines. I normally use the ethanol based antifreeze but figured I would try this propylene glycol based one instead as it is supposed to be more effective. But, honestly, I see no difference in the performance of this ‘WINTER PRUF® RV Antifreeze for Winterizing Non Toxic, Alcohol Free’ when compared to its cheaper ethanol counterpart…at least nothing that would justify it costing 7x as much. For my situation, it’s not a justifiable added expense. Some people claim that this propylene glycol product is less irritating to your skin. I saw no difference. The alcohol based antifreeze just feels cooler when it touches your skin…just like rubbing alcohol would. This ‘WINTER PRUF® RV Antifreeze for Winterizing Non Toxic, Alcohol Free’ does have a thicker consistency, though in my opinion, than the ethanol based antifreeze does. It’s not quite ‘gel like’ but isn’t as watery as the alcohol based antifreeze is.In summary, this ‘WINTER PRUF® RV Antifreeze for Winterizing Non Toxic, Alcohol Free’ is a hood, effective product from what I can see. But unless you live in the Arctic, the cost of this antifreeze when compared to the cheaper ethanol based one isn’t justified.
The concentrated Polypropylene glycol non toxic antifreeze is a great product I used to winterize my small block mercruiser engine for winter storage. The 32oz size is easily mixed with 3 additional bottles of distilled water to make a full gallon of ready to use antifreeze. If you have any concerns with the temperature rating validity, you can place this in a freezer to judge it's performance. Polypropylene glycol will turn slushy but not turn solid like an ice cube, so safe to prevent cracking the motor block or plumbing.
Works well in my Grand Marquis when diluted a bit. Price isn’t great but quality is good and wasn’t hard to mix at all. But not a great value.
I use RV antifreeze for winter travel in my motorhome. Because I don't carry onboard water in my tank in the winter, I keep a jug of diluted RV antifreeze in my shower to use for flushing. It keeps everything moving normally without freezing up and damaging my plumbing. I imagine it's also useful for standard winterization as well, but I blow out all my lines with an air compressor before the first freeze and just pour a bit of antifreeze in the drains in case there's any trapped water there.
This antifreeze is made for pumping into your water lines for the winter, but I completely drain my fresh tank and water heater, and then hook up an air compressor and blow all the water lines out every fall. But I still need antifreeze for the traps and grey/black holding tanks to keep any remaining liquid from freezing. This jugs are great, because they'll last me two winters (and I don't get antifreeze in my fresh water, so I don't have to worry about consuming any residue.
