Make with steel and bamboo cutting board. Well made. Love that my homemade bread can be cut in uniform slices. Easy to clean

The slicing guide is made of sturdy metal that doesn't move when cutting your bread. The base is a bamboo wood cutting board which helps keeping your knife sharp. The base is dishwasher safe and has a slot you can use if you want to hang it up. The first slice tends to be a little narrower than the rest, but otherwise the guide makes clean, even slices.

Product seemed like a fair price as it is pictured with knife and several reviews mention the quality of the knife, however, one was not included in our order and there was no contact information available from the seller to resolve the issue. Only resolution is to return it.

I thought getting a bread slicer would be helpful to create more uniform slices. It turns out it seems to be more trouble than it's worth. This slicer is a little too wide, so my knife doesn't go all the way across the loaf, still making my slices uneven. I do like that it is made of metal and wood so I'm not shaving little bits of plastic into my bread. I'm impressed with the heft and quality of the material this is made of. Maybe I will invest in a longer knife and see if I like it any better.

After the worst of the pandemic forced me to make my own I am spoiled and store-bought bread tastes like paper. I don't actually enjoy baking but still make a loaf of bread about every five days. A good bread machine makes that a fast and simple chore, otherwise I promise you I wouldn't be doing it. Slicing the loaves is still a nuisance but however much I may lust for it, one of those pricey slicing machines is not going to happen. If somebody comes up with an affordable automatic electric home slicer, I'll be all over it. I made my own cutting guide out of red oak board and it has served well but I've always been curious to try one of the manufactured slicing guides. Every one I've seen up to now is cheaply constructed out of either styrene plastic or thin bamboo or pine and does not inspire confidence. The thought of plastic or wood shavings in my sandwiches is most unappetizing. When I saw this TKVASK unit and its stainless steel construction I figured it was worth trying. I use an Oster electric carving knife and don't have the problems some reviewers have noted about the width of this device. The way I cut is to carve a slice, remove it and move the loaf forward. It would have been more useful to me if the guide fingers varied in width--some producing thin slices, others thicker--to be selected as desired. With the way this one is designed there are ways around that, of course, by repositioning the loaf. That would not suit those who prefer cutting with the loaf held immobile and moving the knife from slot to slot. The width of the slots, differences in construction of knives and individual variations in technique on the part of the user all mean that unless someone is very well-practiced, despite the uniformity of the fingers there is likely to be a noticeable lack of uniformity in the thickness of the slices produced. The bamboo base insert is fine and practical and will help protect the knife's cutting edge. I would recommend treating the bamboo with a food-safe beeswax and mineral oil wood conditioner (aka salad bowl conditioner)--though bamboo is, technically, a grass and not wood--to help protect and preserve it. Overall, I would say that if you are in the market for this type of fingered slicing guide this TKVASK (another alphabet-soup name from a Chinese random Latin character generator) unit is, as the manufacturer claims, preferable to the plastic or wood models in function and durability. I'd give it three and a half to four stars; I'm not in love with it but it performs as advertised.

Very easy to use, the sliced bread looks just like store-bought. It comes with a cleaning brush, the cutting board is detachable and easy to clean. Highly recommended! It saves me time and solves the hassle of cutting bread.

Great item. This is both heavy and sturdy and will not get all chewed up like my old plastic one. It has a small profile and is barely noticeable stored in my pantry. The space between the guides allows for different thickness for your slices and the stainless steel should last a lifetime

This unit is well built. Holds the bread in place nicely. I used it for Sourdough bread. Always had issues cutting larger pieces. This definitely solves that.

Highly recommend. Does not fold for compact storage

This seems well made enough for what it is and how it's priced, but I returned it because the spacing of the guides resulted in very thick slices of bread that no one in my family was interested in eating. Along the lines of Texas Toast.

Bought new but received used and dirty on top of all, returned for refund
