My first purchase of deep pour resin cures very clear no bubbles will definitely be a repeat customer
I found this resin easy to use with great results.
I ordered this 51OZ Deep Pour Epoxy Resin kit because I originally got into resin crafting with the goal of embedding pieces from my seashell collection and dried flowers from my garden in resin. This either takes a lot of pours with regular epoxy resin, or a good quality, crystal clear deep pour resin. I hadn't worked with deep pour resin yet, and I was excited to give it a try.I was rather alarmed to find that the product arrived haphazardly in a rough cut cardboard box. Labels had peeled off the resin bottles, caps were knocked off the pumps, the included pouring cups were crumpled, and tiny bits of cardboard were filling the mixing cups. This wasn't an Amazon shipping problem, this is how the kit was packaged.I got the pumps into the bottles, but when I went to use them, I discovered that neither worked. They simply pumped air, and at that point they were fully coated in liquid epoxy, so I couldn't even investigate to see if it was an easily solvable problem. I threw them away and settled for the mess of pouring straight from the bottles. My first test pour was disappointing. There were so many bubbles, I didn't even bother trying to heat gun them. I let them cure on a heat mat, which did help with some of the shallower bubbles, but when I popped the pieces out of their molds, there were multiple visible bubbles deep in the pour. For my second attempt, I pre-warmed the bottles before mixing, and had much better results. There were still intermittent bubbles that are visible in the clear pieces, but they are barely visible in the dyed resin. The clear pieces I poured did indeed cure crystal clear, aside from the bubbles. The most visible bubbles are from the batch I didn't pre-warm, so that's probably on me. My circa-1870s house is quite cool in the wintertime, so your need for warming may be more or less vital.Regarding curing time: my shallow pours cured in under 48 hours on the heating mat. Pours over 1/2 inch did take at least 48 hours (I didn't check them again until 4 days later, so unsure of the exact timeline).Overall, this seems to be a decent quality deep-pour resin that needs a serious upgrade in packaging and pump construction.
Came with a ton of accessories. True to product description. Fast shipping and received in 48 hours. Easy to use drying time is a bit slow but adds to clarity. Easy to mix and crushed projects up to 4 inches. Bubbles escapes as stated do have to go back after initial pour as more bubbles come up!
I have ordered this product twice. The second time the hardener was oxidized.
As long as your follow the instructions it’s fantastic. Make sure to follow the 2:1 ratio and mix it thoroughly for at least 4 minutes and it takes the color pigments great as well.
It is thicker than other epoxies, and cures faster!
I used this for a practical automotive repair, fiberglassing a hole cut into an older SUV to create access for a fuel pump. This was a structural, non-decorative application done on a tight budget, and overall it worked out well. One thing to be aware of is viscosity. This resin is a bit thick for fiberglassing, especially with heavier material like 1708 fiberglass mat. It doesn’t soak in quickly and takes some time to fully wet out the fibers. With patience and working it in, it does eventually penetrate and bond properly.Bubble formation was minimal. I didn’t have to aggressively chase bubbles, and the slower flow seemed to help air work its way out naturally. The cured result was clear, solid, and consistent. After full cure and several days of real-world use with normal vibration, the repair feels rigid and durable rather than brittle. Bonding was strong, and the area has held up without signs of cracking or separation.Cure time is on the slower side, which is expected for a deep-pour formulation, but that slower cure clearly helped with clarity and reduced trapped air. While it’s thicker than ideal for traditional laminating work, it still performed well and produced a strong result. For applications where strength and thickness matter more than fast wet-out, this worked reliably for me.
