Bought this as a christmas gift for my boyfriend. Came sooner than expected!

My only issue was that after I copied all my backup files to the disk after the seamless plug-n-play, I rebooted my computer and the exFat format on the disk caused my reboot to hang up on the manufacturer's logo. I contacted Seagate for support and they did not realize the issue so were having me test on other machines and the cord, etc. Lots of time to do all that troubleshooting. Found my answer by searching that someone had reformatted from exFat to NTFS and solved the issue for them. So, I erased all the work I did and reformatted and it booted right up. Seems to serve it's purposed to hold backup files quickly and easily. The one I'm replacing is a Seagate and have had for years and still works. Just too small at this point. I'll repurpose.

Maybe it's just me, but 2 WD drives have failed while my other Seagate is still error-free. I chose this to replace my latest WD failure. To be fair, my drives are pretty old and drives can't be expected to last a very long time, Still I choose to go with the brand that hasn't yet failed. This one 12TB is quiet and competitively priced.

I purchased the Seagate Expansion 12TB External Hard Drive earlier this month, excited to add a large-capacity drive to my setup. However, upon receiving the product and setting it up recently, I discovered that the drive only provides 10.9TB of usable storage.I understand that drives rarely offer the full advertised capacity due to formatting and pre-installed manufacturer software. However, a loss of 1.1TB—nearly 10% of the advertised space—is far beyond what I consider reasonable or acceptable.For a product marketed as providing 12TB of storage, this discrepancy feels misleading. Customers rely on advertised specifications to make purchasing decisions, and when those expectations are not met, it damages trust.I hope Seagate (or Amazon) will address this issue transparently, whether by improving accuracy in their marketing materials or minimizing unusable storage in future products. While Seagate drives typically perform well, the significant shortfall in available storage makes it hard for me to recommend this product without hesitation.

decent speed. does not have on off switch

It worked until it didn't. We have this paperweight sitting in front of me that stopped working and now we lost everything that is on this device. We have not been able to get in touch with Seagate since this broke immediately after the return window closed. We are disappointed.

Have used this brand for years. Reliable. Extra storage is nice for back up file.

I purchased two (2) of the 14TB models. After only five (5) times of using both drives as mirrored backups, one failed. In querying the symptoms (the drives start to spin, but quit operating just a few seconds in [the case hardware interface being the apparent culprit]), I opted to a radical solution (the idea of mailing a HDD with my files anywhere not something I would ever do, I care not about said 'warranties'). The photos show my approach to a solution.

12TB versiyon bugün elime geçti. İçinden çıkacak sürprizi bekliyordum. Exos mu Ironwolf pro mu.. crystaldiskinfo programı kutu içinde 7200rpm bir Ironwolf pro olduğunu gösterdi (ST12000NE0008 ). ATTO Disk Benchmark ile yaptığım test sonucu maksimum 250MB/s gördüm.. Mükemmel.. Worldcard ile 6 taksitte vade farksız 5699TL ye aldığım harddiskin kutusuz hali en ucuz 10900TL ye satılıyor an itibariyle.. İhtiyacım olsa bir tane daha alırdım.. İhtiyacı olanlara hararetle tavsiye ederim.
