After starting to wear a wig following cancer treatment, this heat defense serum from Amika has been a game-changer. I apply it before using a curling iron, and it truly helps protect the hair from damage. Bonus? The scent is amazing—like a little luxury in the daily routine. I typically use R+Co’s chain mail heat protectant spray, but I found that that one left my hair feeling sticky or clumpy if I accidentally over-sprayed a section. I also was afraid that with a spray, I would miss spots and waste product by getting spray in the air. Thus, I opted this time for a serum. I have to take very diligent care of my course, curly, bleached hair so I did my research and thought I’d give Amika’s serum a try. I already use their shampoo/condish/hair mask, so I wasn’t surprised to see this product have great reviews. I’m so glad I bought it! I use only 3 pumps for my thick, shoulder-length curly hair when I put heat on it and it does the trick. It also smells amazing (citrus) and the smell remains even after I straighten my hair. Both my husband and I hate the smell of burned, fried hair but that’s just the cost of flat ironing it at 375 degrees, but this one masks that pretty well. The only issue I have is I think I got a faulty bottle, because it leaks if it’s tipped on its side. Otherwise, it’s a tiny but mighty heat protectant serum!

So simple and easy to use, and with such a great scent I look forward to putting this on before styling my hair. It doesn’t leave my hair feeling greasy but keeps my hair feeling light and soft; it also gives my hair a nice shine and keeps the little stray flyaways under control. This product is amazing! I used it for the first time last week and it protected my hair as it should and it left it smelling AMAZING and feeling super soft! My fiance complimented it several times! I would say the only issue have with it is it leaves your hands a little greasy and requires washing after applying. The bottle comes in a heavy duty bottle (glass, I believe) and its super easy to squirt some into your hand, there's not struggle at all. The instructions on the back are clear enough and easy to ready. It's also in a bottle that's probably small enough to pack in a carry-on! I love this heat protectant! Can't get enough of it!!!!

I purchased this product and when i received it I was a little disappointed about the size of the bottle and its price BUT here I am a YEAR after a purchased it and I just ran out. So its defientley worth it The product lasts a very long time , depending on how often you use it . I used it about 2/3 times a week . all you need is 1 pump lather it in your hands and run through your hair ! It works wonders. Also the smell isn't like other products that leave your hair smelling bad , it has a good smell to it! I am here purchasing again !
