After reviewing so many tea kettles, I decided to purchase Cuisinart CPK-17 Programmable Kettle. First of all, it's made of stainless steel which preserves the taste of water and doesn't give off hint of rusty taste. It looks so neat in our modern kitchen. I love having 6 temperature modes so you can choose a different setting for each kind of tea. I drink herbal teas all the time and it's a big no-no to use boiling water as it ruins the taste and its healthy properties. My husband loves green tea which needs even lower temperature. 1.7-liter capacity is pleanty for a big family or having guests over.As a mom, I love having non-slip stay-cool handle and ability to use the lowest temperature for my little one. Plus, it's BPA free and doesn't accumulate mineral build up on the bottom.It's so easy to use: one touch! Plus having light, sound and "keep it warm" function easily indicate at what stage your kettle is if you are busy running around the house. This kettle memorizes your last preference so again, it's one touch.

I have been using this thing everyday for a couple weeks. It works very well and heats the water quickly. Common water temps are programmed for 1 button operation. Buy you one!

This our favorite way to heat water for tea and coffee -- and for cooking too. It heats water quickly with no odd taste or odor, the temperature settings are good, and the window showing the amount of water is helpful. It sounds a bing when it reaches the set temperature. I sometimes miss hearing the bing when I am in another room, but it keeps the water at the set temperature. This is the second one we have owned. The first one lasted three years and three months before its stopped heating water - three months beyond the three-year warranty. We hope this one lasts longer.

I actually really love this kettle. However less then a month after I received it, it started leaking excessively! I would come back after using it and turning it off and my counter and floor would be covered in water from the kettle. Because it's exactly past one month after the purchase date - not when I received it, I am unable to return it. I bought a Square Trade extended warrantee which is basically a joke. I don't think I'm going to see any help in getting a replacement or refund. I should have just bought this from a regular store where they would have replaced it!!

As advertised. I love this unit. I used an external thermometer to test the accuracy and it was dead on. It is quick and efficient. The "keep warm" function is useful as I like to walk away and take my time. I also use this for my french press coffee. It's perfect.

Worked beautifully, but for only 14 months. Called Cuisinart to begin warranty return but the wait is 15 minutes. Will pursue and let you know whether they stand behind this pricey kettle.

I am a tea lover and thought this would be too much trouble choosing what type of tea, but this is the most simple electric kettle I have ever used. Highly recommend.

My family is what I would consider to be a normal user of electric kettles (between 5 and 10 uses per day). We purchased this kettle because we liked the versatility and because the three year warranty would allow us to replace the kettle free of charge if it failed.My family has now purchased two of these kettles, and neither has lasted more than 18 months. The second kettle is still functional, but the lid latch broke so the lid does not open. I contacted Cuisinart customer service, but they insisted that their limited warranty requires the consumer to send the kettle back to them, which (according to USPS) would cost me $50, in addition to the $10 S&H for the replacement kettle. The limited warranty does NOT say this. When I complained, they offered to waive the $10 fee, but that does not make it worthwhile.Overall, it would be more convenient and cost effective to purchase a cheaper kettle. I do not recommend this purchase.

This kettle is perfect for making various kinds of tea. It keeps the water hot and controls the temperature. I’ve had this kettle for three years now.

Good kettle, several different boiling temperatures. It works well and is generally reliable, 'but' this is my 2nd Cuisinart Electric Kettle in 5 years. The kettle leaks water all over the counter posing an electrical hazard. I think that the leak is coming from the plastic water level indicator window. I ordered another one hoping that this flaw has been corrected. The water is not leaking through the stainless steel and I only use filtered tap water in it to block any chemicals that might exist and affect the kettle and myself. The 'keep warm' feature is a nice touch. I recommend this kettle, only keep an eye on it when it reaches 5 years old. This kettle has had heavy use, perhaps that contributed to the water leaking. On further checking of the owner's manual, I see that it comes with a 3 year guarantee exceeding that by 2 years. Other more expensive kettles on Amazon come with a 5 year guarantee. So on that basis, I'll give it 4 stars. One recommendation though, with so much electronics in this kettle, I am using an electric surge protector strip to plug it into, to avoid any trouble in that regard to protect it from any power surges and avoid problems in that often overlooked area. Of course as with anything "Made in China", you take your chances. Based on other reviewers negative responses, I consider myself lucky. Quality control with Chinese made products is always 50/50.

We’ve been doing some small upgrades around the house and finally got around to buy this new kettle. It looks great and does the job as described. The majority of time we just use the boil setting but I love that if I choose a different type of tea I can choose the specific temperature described on the packaging to optimize the flavor. It boils the water pretty quickly and the fact that it keeps water that temperature for 30 minutes by default has been quite handy. The stream goes a little weird when you’re pouring and the water level is low but that’s hardly ever the case and honestly not a big deal at all. It’s been an awesome addition to our kitchen and as dumb as it sounds, it makes me happy every time I use it.Yes, the body of the kettle gets hot once you boil water but I have never picked up a kettle by its body so this has never been an issue for us. If you do for some reason have a habit of picking up kettles on the body then be warned that it does get quite hot.
