UPDATE 3 Same one of two purchased has failed AGAIN after 18 months. Bluetooth function failed to work the lock so I needed to use the key to physically unlock it. Took it apart and examined the motor and gears. Worked again then failed the next day. It seems to not be reacting with any light (red or green circular light) when pressing the registered fingerprint so it could be a reader problem. I will likely not just send this one to the landfill, but the working one too and just buy two replacement of another brand.UPDATE 2 (3/14/2025)- four stars, now. After some more thought, I figured from the way the mechanism was behaving that it might be getting partial power. So I removed the battery replacement end cap on the inside doorknob and I stretched out the four small battery contact springs. Works now, so far..UPDATE (3/13/2025)- from 5 to 2 stars.One of the doorknobs quit working. The touch feature is gone and I can only work the knob via the app with Bluetooth. Even that is tenuous and then the physical key is the only way in.I needed doorknobs for a couple of interior closets and a room that I wanted to have lock by default without depending on any keys. This style was perfect. It isn't oversized like the keypad types and the biometric fingerprint feature works well. The only minor hiccup is if your finger is moist in the slightest after recent handwashing/towel drying, but that's not a big deal to me and the fingerprint entry works less than a minute later. In that case, I resort to the code (or you can use your phone or physical key).

Updated 2024-02-05: The fingerprint reader is not reliable at all. You program in a fingerprint and it won't be recognized after a couple of days. This isn't a matter of a wet finger or some other known issue with fingerprint reading. It's just unreliable. Another thing to note is that the keypad isn't visible until you interact with the door knob. This confused our pet sitter for a moment. Finally, once you set a keypad code in the app, you can't read it again. It won't display your own code to you. I'm not sure we'll keep using it. I don't recommend it.--------------------------------------------Original Review:I like this doorknob. It was easy to install and not too difficult to set up. If it doesn't hold up over time, I'll update this review. There are a few things that make it less than 5-stars:- It's difficult to tell if the door is unlocked. There's no visual clue and the app isn't clear. Also, the setting to control "passage mode" (i.e., the door is unlocked) is not in the app as the (skimpy) manual states.- The manual type size and organization and layout make it difficult to use- Unlocking the door is a bit convoluted.- The doorknob is a bit larger than a normal knob. Not a problem for us but if you struggle with regular size doorknobs, then this might be an issue.

So far so good, just installed it today, and it was pretty simple installation following the manual directions. Will come back to update for a 6 month review.

Decided to change the classic door knob from my back door. Every time I needed to use that door was locked and had to go around. Switched it with this one and now everyone in our house can unlock it using either their fingerprints or the code. Super convenient. The lock it’s built nicely, it feels really sturdy and strong. Install was done in less than 10 minutes that includes the removal of the old one. Everything fit good. After that I downloaded the app, set up a main code and everyone’s fingerprints. It also comes with 2 backup keys. Looks good also.

The biometric scanner works reliably, and I like that there are multiple backup options; the app, manual keys, and USB power in case the battery dies. It’s also rechargeable, which means no disposable batteries to worry about. Overall, this feels like a solid, well-made product at a very reasonable price, especially if you catch it on sale. I’m happy with it and would recommend it. I’ll update my review if anything changes.

First time using a smart door knob (didn't even know they existed). This is a great option instead of digging holed into door/walls to install other types of locks. The fingerprint feature is amazing, and it can also be unlocked using a password combination or a the keys that came with it. Charging this knob is done through the outside knob, which is great in case the battery runs out. And finally, the app is fantastic is it allows users to control everything and check battery level. Very happy!

I purchased two of these smart knobs along with the gateway, and after reading through the manuals and getting a bit of help from ChatGPT, I was able to get everything working together. The final setup is great. I can unlock my front door and even my garage door, which is two floors below my apartment, completely remotely. I do not need Bluetooth or WiFi on my phone for it to work, and the app handles everything perfectly.At first, I tried using the Smart Life app, but it did not work with the gateway I bought. I was able to add the gateway, but the knobs would not connect to it. I had to reset both knobs and switch to another app called Nice Digi. Once I used that app, everything paired correctly, and the system worked exactly as described.I also tried connecting the system to Google Home and Alexa, but no matter what I did, there was no way to make it integrate with either platform. For me this is not a major issue, since the app itself works very well and the price I paid was excellent, but it would have been a nice extra feature since I already use Google speakers and Alexa displays at home.Overall, I am happy with what I got for the price. The remote access works smoothly, and the system is easy to manage once it is set up. Just keep in mind that you will likely need to use the Nice Digi app, and that it does not support Google Home or Alexa.
