UPDATE: This solved a problem I didn't even know I had. How to get in to the house when it is pitch dark and you forgot to turn the porch lights on. No problem (see the video). That, and the fact that I'm just going to hide the physical keys somewhere means that this thing ROCKS!. No real need for a locksmith. And the best thing: my old-school wife is warming up to it. Six stars when she's all in?PRIOR REVIEW: It looks good and the handles feel good in the hand. Nice and smooth, seems to be pretty decent quality. Installation was easy and the unit looks nice. Fingerprint setup, card reader setup, password setup all went very smoothly. Physical keys work fluidly without any binding at all. Smooth bolt action (bolt seems to be hollow???), all good. the card readers (fobs) only work from a very close distance, you need to graze the reader pad. I was hoping for something more powerful like a car-key fob that communicates with the door even though it is in my pocket, but I don't think that tech is used in any of these smart locks. The manufacturer answered this question: Can I buy three units (front, back, garage doors) and have the physical keys match and open all doors. Answer: No (one star lost) I will have to have a locksmith come out and rekey them. Of course, codes and fingerprints can be reused so that may not even be an issue for most people who want to ditch the key-fumbling. Some day I will paint over the old hardware's shadow but it's not terrible-looking the way it is. Good stuff, totally recommended if you need just one. MAYBE a premier brand would be able to send three units with matching keys, avoiding the additional cost I will incur with these. Or perhaps I return this and look for a company that CAN do that! OR... hide all the keys in the back yard OR... just hide one to give access to the house, as I would do even with a higher-end unit.

It's always feels like a bit of a roll of the dice when purchasing something that has an electronic component, a mechanical component, and an app that goes with it. In this case, it was a good purchase. This is being written 3 months after we purchased it.The app: Pairing it to the app was easy. I was surprised by the functionality of the app and what could be done with the lock through the app. We had contractors going in and out of our house while we were not there, and we were able to assign each one a separate code and know when they were showing up. The fingerprint configuration was easy and works well. The app is stable and we have not had any issues doing what we need to do with it. My only complaint with the app is that it apparently requires you to be within 6 feet of the door to "remotely" unlock it, even though we also have the WiFi G2 Gateway. I wouldn't exactly consider that "remote" unlocking. I would have expected that with it also connected to the WiFi gateway that the door could be unlocked from anywhere that has Internet service. If this is possible, I'll update my review if I figure out how to do it.The electronic deadbolt: This has functioned perfectly, although you do need to make sure the deadbolt latch doesn't rub against the edge of the strike plate too much or it won't be able to lock electronically. The fingerprint sensor is a big time-saver, since it's much quicker to unlock the door using the fingerprint sensor than by typing in a code. The only thing I don't like is the style of the keys on the keypad. You have to press firmly on the keypad for each number, and if someone who has never used the lock needs to lock it on their way out, there's nothing identifying how to lock it (pressing the keypad to activate the keypad then holding down the "#" key for 2 seconds is not very intuitive). However, this was not significant enough to deduct any stars on the overall rating.The handle: We initially had an issue with the handle not fully pulling in the latch to open the door. We emailed the manufacturer and sent them a video of the issue. They responded right away, asked a few questions about the issue, determined that it was a defective unit, and shipped us a new handle. We installed the replacement handle and it works great now.Overall this is a great product for the price and we've been super happy with it and with Smonet's customer service. We've ordered another electronic deadbolt for another door now that we know this one works well.

Installation was easy. App is easy to navigate. Great product! I had to call customer service to get help getting it to lock properly, but the rep was very helpful and got me squared away in no time. Very helpful!

This lock was easy to install and works great. I did buy the gateway that allows it to be controlled from anywhere with the app. I’ve had no problems with it at all in about a year. I’ve never even checked the keys, I don’t need them, that’s why I bought this lock.

Update: The Lock works great. The app and company aren't as great, but are better than I thought. It's worth it now. Updated from 2 to 5 stars.- Lock: You can set up your own codes, lock or unlock the door with your phone, and get notifications when someone uses a code to open the door. Remote unlock works, but by default it's disabled in the app settings. You have to enable it while connected with a Bluetooth connection to the lock. Once enabled though, you can unlock the door from anywhere in the world if you have a Wi-Fi or data connection where you're at. Big win.- Company: I reached out to the company to try to resolve issues via the email address they provide in the app. It doesn't work. It bounced back three times. However, I left a poor review in Amazon the first time and after a few weeks they contacted me! They wanted to work it out or refund my money, and didn't even mention returning the lock, which I was very pleased with. I didn't want a refund, I just wanted the lock to work, and with their help through a few emails I was able to resolve all issues. This is a big deal to me.- App: The app throws error messages or gives user hints that don't really make sense. Sometimes they don't even fit in the space provided and are cut off. It seems they were written in Chinese and translated to English. Based on the response from the company, though, my hope is they will iron this out in some update at some point soon. The app also didn't seem to let me share access to the lock and remote control functions with my wife's phone, but we were finally able to fix that with an admin account by using the same email address and phone number combination on the invitation as on her account with TTLock.

I've had three units break in about a year and a half all for different things. The company has replaced them the first two times, but now on the third break, where the bottom handle will not let you open the door, they are ghosting me. I told them I've had to pay hundreds to a contract each time to replace the unit. Once it broke because the keypad did not work anymore. Another break was the lock would not open on the top. One of the times they asked me if it was exposed to the elements, which seemed curious, because it's a lock for an outdoor door.

Install: This only should have taken about 20-25 minutes to install but because I had a window frame ridge I had to file that down to get the lock mount on the inside to fit. Entire time for me was 45 minutes and a lot of sweat. That wasn't their fault. The strange thing is the inside lock mount is wider than the outside lock mount so I didn't have to file anything for the outside mount.I did drill the hole in the door for the upper screw mount (with supplied drill bit) but couldn't use the supplied templates because my window framing on the door prevented that from setting correctly so I merely positioned the lock, held the gasket in place and removed the lock marking the hole with the rubber gasket. I thought I had it correctly positioned but it was a little off and the bottom part of the lock and the top screw didn't line up just right. I had to try to bore the hole wider to get it to fit. When I did this the supplied drill bit broke. I also thought the mounting hardware illustrations and which screws to use could have been better illustrated.Usage:When I downloaded the app from android play store I immediately got a warning saying that that app could be harmful to my phone. I never got a message from any other app like this. I double checked it and installed it. I also saw a screen with a lot of Chinese print on it when I got this warning, very scary.The first thing I would like to say is that Bluetooth is absolutely worthless for a door lock in my opinion. You have to be 2 meters or less to do anything so you might as well just get a manual lock that you put in the codes standing by the door. It's like having a phone app for the microwave, what's the point? (by the way , Whirlpool includes wifi control with their microwave app) You can get the gateway device FOR AN EXTRA $40 to work with wifi but I think this should have been included.The most frustrating thing so far has been the autolock feature does not seem to work consistently with manual unlocking. I have contacted CSR to verify this and will update if and when I hear back. Also when it does autolock it makes a bunch of beeps and I don't know why it does that.There are more frustrations with the manual. The picture displays are so small you can't see what they are illustrating, the English grammar is bad, and has lots of misspellings. Clearly a Chinese product half-baked without the help of Americans or English speaking people.Another problem with the app features us that they are hard to understand what they do or are not explained at all in the manual or app. I understand the passcodes and generating them , that is good and easy to do but they have other things like admin, ekeys, privacy lock and many more that are not properly explained or explained at all.A BIG frustration is the records in the app. Most lock apps will show you a record of EVERYTHING. This one does not seem to show manual locks/unlocks or autolocks in the records. Another weird thing is if you lock it with the app, it shows "Locked". If you unlock it with the app, it shows "Unlock with App". Do they even have a QA department???Update : Issue with autolock being inconsistent - It was determined (by much trial and error) that the deadbolt was not sliding freely to its full extension on autolock. It would autolock once and beep many times but when you unlocked it again manually it would not autlock again.I replaced my receiver bracket with the one that came with it and moved it side ways a little and then noticed that the knob position was fully at 3:00 on autolock instead of the 2:00 position it was before. Autolock worked every time after this. NOWHERE in the manual or the trouble shooting tips does it mention these error beeps.Update: Melody from Smonet contacted me and was very helpful in assisting me with the use of the lock.

Really impressive smart lock system and definitely worth the extra money compared to some other units!First and foremost the install process was pretty easy and if you've swapped out handles or locks on other doors you can easily do it with this one as well.Second, the actual locking mechanism and digital keypad is pretty solid. My favorite feature is the fingerprint capabilities and we'll talk about that more later. I will say it's not the most responsive touchpad in the world and I do find that I have to click on the pad once or twice before it recognizes that I am touching it.Now onto my favorite things about this lock and thats the customization and the app. The app is super versatile and you can set up passcodes for yourself or anyone else at the house. If you forget to lock the front door you can pull up the app and check and lock it from your phone. Plus, they have little key fobs which can be placed near the lock and it'll automatically open the door.The fingerprint capabilities is also super nice and this is the option my wife and I use most commonly. Lastly, once you're leaving your house you just hold the "#" symbol and it locks the door.Overall we're super pleased with this setup and love it for our front door!

Totally installed myself, clear instructions. In the app, there are several ways to unlock then the door, with key, use passcode, use app via bluetooth, or remotely.However I didn’t find too many ways to lock the door. On the end I find there is a auto lock function, I can choose duration time like after unlock 20 second, then lock the door. Works every time. I used rogers security system, I always need to go back and check if I lock the door or not. But with this one, I can just forget it cause I know it will auto lock itself.

It works for the first one month then it does lock/unlock at all u have to do it manually which is annoying. Tried to reach out to customer support but no one is answering tried to return it but i cant ! Just waste of money!

The locksmith guy wasn't familiar with it, but installed it without any significant problems, and pointed out that its neoprene seal will protect it again water damage in driving rain, which appears to have impaired three previous locks of ours of a better-known brand (that starts with "Sch"—never again).Being able to lock and unlock with the app is nice. The Auto-lock feature is quite useful. The automatic record of locking/unlocking (but only when that's done with the app) is a bonus. The remote locking would be useful, but requires a Gateway, which is a separate purchase. The best feature (when it works) is being able to give someone an eKey or Passcode for a set date and time period (so a tenant's access automatically expires at the end of their tenancy period), or one-time only, or on a recurring basis.The key (no pun intended) phrase here is "when it works". After nearly a month's use, the biggest problem is the software, which has confusing interface issues, and curious glitches. For some reason, the lock/unlock settings have reversed. (The FAQ acknowledges this problem, and suggests a fix by switching a toggle "on the back panel", which we have no idea what that means, as it is not shown in the diagram.) Also, it is unclear what is the difference (or the relationship) between "Passcodes" and "eKeys", and setting someone up with either only for worked for two of us—the other two are having to use the physical key. The good news is that the physical keys cannot be duplicated.Bottom line: if the software glitches and interface were to be fixed, this lock would rate a full five stars. As it is, it's good, but with limitations.

Works as it should be. Installation was easy, follow the instruction then you will be fine. Looks nice on my door. Two things that I want to point out.1. The lock needs one extra snall hole above the big lock hole on the door, the good thing is you will get the drill bit in the package. However, if you don’t want to drill on your door you can skip this step, I tried to just install 2 screws at the bottom it will works just fine.2. Be carful about the side of your door hinges and setup the button accordingly otherwise you will get opposite result like if you unlock door the door will lock or if you lock the door the door will unlock.

Received the first lock and unfortunately it was a manufacturing defect that wouldnt allow it to pass the initial 'locking' test. I was able to go through support through whattsapp which was convenient as I use this method to talk or communicate with friends and family so that was very easy and almost received a reply from the support team right away. They provided a replacement which was the wrong color, then they shipped another one within the same day and the new replacement was received very quickly, almost only a few days apart from the initial issue which was lightning fast IMO. The replacement works well and the RFC cards are very convenient for us to now open without any issues, great lock and love the support that we had received. Will purchase again in the future.
