I tried several seat extenders before I found this one and they were all too flimsy to handle the weight of my border collie without bending. This one has rigid pvc plates that keep it flat under the weight of two 50 pound dogs without flexing at all. The plates are removable and the rest can be washed if you place it in a mesh bag to avoid twisting.Not only is this item far superior to any others I found, it also costs about one-third wrong the price of the others.

Well, because we have, fairly recently, decided that we need to rectify this issue, beginning with comfortable car seating for our two dogs.We have gotten a newer car that goes much faster. I love how versatile this is. I have 9 golden retrievers and 2 young kids, so this is multifunctional for me. I tried this out in our crew cab Silverado with the "boards" inside it just and it really did add some space for dogs to comfortably use the seat space. I occasionally take the truck and up to 4 dogs at a time. I think three might comfortably be able to sit in this with another in the passenger seat or even below this on the floor. For protecting the interior and seats from dirt, hair, and grime, this is really versatile to cover a lot of space. It is really easy to install and I like the type of hooks used instead of the buckles I've normally seen on products like this. It's nice that it has zippers that work well and can open up the center when its fully hammocked. I have to use car seats for my kids, and it has velcro openings for seat belts, though I will say in our large truck seat it wasn't easy to do the latches for the car seats because the placement of the velcro wasn't perfect, but might be better in a smaller vehicle. I don't think car seats would work well while the boards are installed. (Most of the time this will serve as a seat cover under the car seats unless we are taking dogs along somewhere with us.) I like that the ends also zip and can serve to protect the doors and extra straps are provided for the ends to hook up on the hooks/handles in the vehicle. I can also set this up in the cargo area of our small SUV. The quality seems pretty good, but time will tell. And it came in a nice canvas zip-up bag where everything fits comfortably for storage when not being used. I'm not sure that this is waterproof enough to protect things from a major liquid spill or accident, but I haven't tested it. Overall, very satisfied so far. Time will tell how it holds up.

A high-quality backseat bed for dogs - works great!This backseat unit by Chioratree is an very good fit for a full sized Chevy Avalanche. That's like a Suburban, Sliverado, Tahoe - that size of truck or SUV. The base unit - the floor - is no more that two inches from either side - an acceptable width.There are three main sections of the floor, and they can be removed and replaced. This makes washing the entire unit easy in a large washing machine, but it also means that you could replace the floor sections, too. This extends the life of the "bed" by a huge amount!There are side walls to protect your rear doors, a large panel that protects the rear seat, seat back and even a front wall the protects the back of the front seats. (I trust that's not too confusing!) There is even a white mesh screen, in-between the two front panels, that allows the dog to see you and you to see the dog. (A black mesh screen would be easier to see through...)All of these various panels, secure to headrests or hand-holds. Once you have the straps in position, the entire bed is secure.The fabric and padding is excellent! The 600D Oxford fabric is responsible for that. I am finding that hair does not stick to the fabric, which makes vacuuming a quick operation. Any stains wipe right up.An excellent feature are two "pockets" at the seam running along the back panel and the rear of the floor. If you open up these two velcro areas, you are presented with the female seatbelt buckles. From here, you just snap you dog's safety vest into the buckle and everyone is secure! Great idea!Every detail is well done. The straps are well sewn into the various locations, adjustments are quick and easy to make, and there are even a couple of extra storage compartments built-in. There are two covered pouches and one without the top cover.Bottom Line - If you have an animal you like to travel with, this is a natural partner to helping that happen. This unit provides a nice, safe spot, just for them - as well, as protecting your interior from any extra wear and tear. You don't have to worry about a dog's nail ripping up a back seat. And with the ability to keep using your dog harness seatbelt, your dog will be safer, too!In fact, this is an accessory you might think about keeping in all the time, because it will keep your backseat area clean and free from damage, when picking up extra supplies for the big box store!

Love this extender and so does my dog. This has changed the game for us on road trips and vet visits. Now he has a place to lay down and relax in the car without feeling cramped and awkward. I have this in my 2014 Volvo XC90 SUV and it fits well. I think its really well made and I would easily recommend this to other dog owners with an SUV or modestly sized vehicle.

The Chioratree Back seat extender cover for dogs is a great option as a back seat cover that provides more room and more structure for your pup. The cover comes in a nice carrying pouch however I would have doubts that I'll be able to get this back in there if I needed to because it was so tightly packed but still nice to have as a form of storage or if you need to transfer it anywhere. In the carrying pouch you'll find the heavy duty plastic plates, the cover itself and then some additional straps - to put it together is fairly easy, you'll need to flip it over to the underside where you'll see the zipper - unzip the compartment which will allow you to slide the plastic hard panels in - there are three of them total, once you have them in zip it back up.The boards go in very easily without any problems, flip it back over so that side is down and you're good to fix it in place with the straps that go around each headrest and then if you want use the side panels that's what the extra straps are for. In regards to the hard surface, I would caution that this might not fit in all cars - I have a mid size sedan (Acura TLX) and to have this cover flat out I would need to move my seats up a bit which isn't technically a problem when I am driving however will be an issue when my hubby is driving because he needs to put his seat all the way back and this will not allow for that so I suggest maybe measuring first to make sure it fits.One thing I did like about this cover is that if you're not using it you can just flip it up in the back seat out of the way when not in use, love the overall look and feel of this cover, it's easy to clean, has multiple pockets to keep things like poop bags, toys, leash etc. and has a mesh cut out so your pup can see you thru it. I've had a number of pet seat covers for the car and this one is great, it provides extra space and the waterproofness and easy cleaning of it is wonderful - I would highly recommend this cover for your car/truck if you have a dog.

This is a handy protector that turns the back seat of your vehicle into essentially a soft-sided tub. It's meant for containing pets, but you could use it in other ways too, for example to keep dirt off your car seats while transporting plants, or bags of fertilizer, or groceries. While it is meant to use with all the seat backs upright in their normal position, I found that you could also use it as a cargo area protector for my SUV when the rear seats are folded down. It doesn't offer perfect coverage, but it works well enough that I'd call this a secondary use case. Again, perfect for when you're putting messy things into your car, like soil or wood from the big box home improvement store. While not heavy duty, it will definitely protect from light liquid splashes and dirt, mud, and dust.The neat thing about this cargo protector is that it comes with plastic corrugated panels that form a relatively solid floor. You can choose to use these, or not, depending on your preference. They zip inside matching panels if you want them. Then you lay the protector on your car seat and zip up the other side walls as needed. There are included metal hooks on straps to hang the front and back sides off the headrests of your front and rear passenger seats.When not in use, you can fold everything up reasonably compactly. A zip-up storage bag is included.This is sized to fit most vehicles - I drive a Toyota RAV4 and found that this covered the entire width of my back seat and had plenty of front and back distance to go even bigger. I did find that in my car the solid bottom panels felt like they were only half resting on the passenger seat, meaning that if an animal were to walk onto the front half of the floor, they might find the whole thing tipping over. A larger - or very small! - animal would not have this issue.Other potential uses - without the rigid plastic panels, let this drape over the rear seats, don't hang it off the front seat backs, and your kids can sit in the back without getting dirt, mud, snow, or beach-soaked clothing all over the car.When not in use I keep mine folded and ready to inside the spare tire wheel well of my RAV4 - ready to see action whenever needed.

This is a good quality, it doesn't look cheap and flimsy and the pieces that adds to the stability are nice to actually aid more in keeping the dogs contained.
