Really cooks the break dust of my painted wheels. Does a pretty fair job at decontamination paint for wax work as well. Definitely not a spray on spray off thing, needs a good wheel brush.

EDITED: 1/27/26I am now purchasing Dark Furry from O’Reillys. I’m getting more product out of a gallon because of how concentrated it is. Works better than this product AIM bake away and you can’t beat the convenience of picking it up at the store.I own a detailing company here in AZ. I’ve been using Brake Buster exclusively for the past 3 years. I’ve always noticed though that after cleaning a tire with brake buster it can still look brown. I decided to take a chance on AIM BRAKE AWAY. What stuck out to me was this is a non acid wheel cleaner. Because I have employees I don’t want to put something in someone’s hand that they could potentially do damage with. I used this product for the first time on a vehicle that wasn’t important lol I wanted to make sure I didnt see some crazy reaction that can lead to staining (trust me it can happen). Almost immediately I saw the tire starting to brown up. The chemical went to work fast pulling off prior tire shine and road grime. Brake buster didn’t always brown up on contact and maybe this is why I found the tire was still dirty after cleaning it (even with aggressive scrubbing). The other thing I noticed, I always use my wheel and tire cleaner in a 1 gallon IK Foamer. It spreads the product nicely and clings to the tire better. This product (brake away) does NOT foam up well. It is very liquidy. However after rinsing the tire and rim off and seeing how clean it was I can look past the non foamy effect. AIM cleans incredibly well. Way better than brake buster. I used a gallon of this stuff on several vehicles and RVs and haven’t found any weird chemical reactions which always worries me with a new product. I’m officially switching to AIM Brake Away. I won’t be buying Brake Buster any longer. In fact I just ordered 2 more gallons of AIM. This product has helped speed things up for me as a detailer. Again it’s really important to me to use safe products on my customers cars. Based on what I’m seeing so far this product appears to be very safe. I give it 4 stars. 5 stars if it foamed up better. If the manufacture is reading this, I think you should tweak the formula so this can foam up better in a foamer. That would bring this product up and over the top for me. Hope this helps potential purchasers in your decision making process.

I poured some of this cleaner into a spray bottle which seemed like the easiest way to use this. On our street car it worked pretty well removing the brake dust which discolored the front wheels. It worked less well on other materials like grease and rubber which I had to clean off with other cleaners.Overall, it's very easy to use and seems to work just fine on brake dust which is the major problem with mag type wheels on cars with front disc brakes...the pads give off this dust with braking that sticks to the rims. This sprayed onto the wheels regularly keeps any of it from sticking to the wheels and makes them look like new again.My limited experience with it showed it will easily take care of brake dust and road grime, but I didn't find that it cleaned everything off the wheels even with multiple applications. I sprayed it on wet wheels and scrubbed with a tire/wheel brush and then rinsed with water. Wheels definitely looked better, but I did find spots of rubber and tar that this didn't take care of.

My wheels throw a lot of break dust and Break Away went straight to work and immediately started to lift the staining off my wheels and tires. I brushed the tires a little bit then rinsed and the brown residue flowed off like a brown river and left my tires black again. I followed up with some AIM Super Gloss and my wheels and tires looked showroom new!

This stuff is great at removing brake dust and other contaminants! Awesome to have this around for regular maintenance and cleaning! Great find!!
