This rug saved the day the first day we had it! The rug was delivered rolled up (as expected) and it took just a little effort of rolling it in the opposite direction to flatten it out. I unpacked it, unrolled it, and put it right in front of the hearth and immediately built a fire. We had some especially odd shaped pieces of wood that I chose for the fire and after a while, one of the logs broke and caused an avalanche of flaming, ember-y logs in the fire place. One rolled completely out and onto the rug. After cleaning up, there were no marks on the rug at all - and I have the tan color. I'm quite impressed with the quality of this rug and how easy it is to clean. Large pieces of debris are easily swept off, and I use my hose attachment on the vacuum to clean up the smaller bits. It's well worth its cost to keep my hardwood floors pristine and to keep my house (and those in it) safe from accidents caused by shifting wood in the fireplace.

Great mat to protect your floor from hot amber or ash. We use our in front of our pellet inser,t and I have had no issues so far.This is a very flat, maybe 1/4" mat with the fireproofing on the underside.

This rug is completely fireproof, I have dropped logs or had sparks from the fireplace, and they are out soon, with no damage to the rug. That said, the rug is constantly shifting position and I don't know why! I've even tried heavy duty, double stick carpet tape and it still moves! It's like there's a little gremlin inside the rug, messing with me.👺 Still, it does what it's supposed to do.

I have only had the Hearth Rug for two days, and have not used it yet. It appears to be very functional and flattened out within one day. I like it because it is light enough to easily move around.The only issue: I ordered the rug in "TAN". I received a "BROWN" rug.

I’ve been looking for a new hearth rug to be placed in front of our family room wood burning fireplace. This rug is better than I expected. The charcoal gray blends nicely with the other decor in the room. It covers a large area of floor in front of the fireplace in case a spark should fly out or a hot log should roll on the floor. Easy to shake out the wood debris and I can even vacuum it. I’ve ordered other items from this brand and they are all of high quality. I’m sure we’ll get many years of use out of this rug.

Had fiberglass rugs from Plow and hearth for in front of woodstove for years. Old ones (thicker, better seams) started looking crummy and the seams binding the rug were fraying badly but were better made. Old color was a deep brown but new one is a light to medium gray brown even though I ordered brown. New one slips more easily on same underlying carpet. Looks better, though. Wish they had a small rectangular rug in same color to set next to/under this one so there would be even better underlying carpet protection when I open woodstove to add more wood. Old rug was good for sparks but I wouldn't ever lay a burning log on one and I douse sparks right away. New one seems okay so far for spark protection. Used old rugs under my workbench in garage just for some soft give under foot.

We needed something to protect the hardwood floor in front of the fireplace insert. Plow and Hearth is a good company and this is a nice rug. I was a little worried when we got it that it wouldn't lay flat since it was rolled up super tight and very curved but within a few minutes it was flat and ready to go.I no longer need to worry about embers hopping out and the color matches our brick mortar almost exactly. Hopefully I won't ever need to know about it's fireproof-ness but I feel better know it is there. It has a good texture but is virtually impossible to sweep (dust just sticks on it so we'll vacuum or hose it off in the spring to get it really clean).

This rug arrived very quickly and was wound in a spiral. I unwrapped it and wound it the other way to flatten the curling corners. Then I put it back in the plastic to hold it in the new position since I still had to drive it to another location. This was a struggle, so I had to use the force of my arms to keep it curled while putting it away. After handling it for several minutes without sleeves, I noticed that my forearms were burning and that they felt like they were cut everywhere. I looked down and saw that they were red and and blotchy, and when I gently ran my hands over them, I felt tiny microsplinters that I couldn't see. I carefully rinsed them with soap and cool water and spent a lot of time using electrical tape (the strongest tape that I had in the house) to press down and pull up on the skin to remove as many splinters as possible. I could not remove them all, and my arms are still tingling, so I'm hoping that a shower will help to work them out. I checked the package, and there was no warning about cuts. I guess I never thought that a rug could act that way, and I'm not used to handling fiberglass. How could a pet lie on this safely, and what if it licked the rug? Frankly, I'm a little worried about my arms, too. I would not recommend this product and will be returning it.

Does exactly as it should, protects the carpet from sparks and embers. But be warned, if you kneel or sit on this mat you WILL get fibreglass splitters.

my Dislike is and my inspector wondered why there is no attached TAG stating that it is a FLAMRETARDENT mat ,he said all of the hearth mats he sees a tag attached to it
