Great range bag for two shooters, holds two sets of ear and eye protection perfectly (pictured), larger back compartment holds my IFAK and tool kit nicely, plenty of small and medium pockets for batteries, tools and whatever else you may need at the range, it claims it will hold three firearms and it may, but it will be tight, two fit absolutely perfect, the side pouch labeled for tape/stapler holds 250-300 9mm or 200-250 .45 (maybe more depending on box sizes) with ease, it's comfortable to wear, atleast from the car to the range, I don't exactly hike with it, I haven't had it for that long so I can't speak to it's durability, but it's very well built, The only thing I would change would be to make the waist strap detachable, other than that I highly recommend.
Amazing bag. I shoot PRS competitions and instruct LR. My previous bag was tested and tough to replace but, on a recommendation, I have the GPS TR B-pack a try. Very impressed with quality of material, zippers and rigidity on bag. The “basement” compartment is a great feature. When you need separate pistol accommodations, the included pistol cases to fill basement are great. I don’t use this as intended but instead store a Mini Armageddon Game Changer bag, spotting optics ( binos or spotter ) and a shemagh. The compartment stays protected even with top compartments full. Labeled pockets are a neat feature but more for “ideas” than actually practical for “everyone” but good stuff none the less. One specifically nice feature are the hearing protection pouches on top zipper pouch. They “actually “ are the best size for higher end hearing protection. So many bags market themselves as well thought out but the most important functions of the bag itself don’t work. GPS has this covered. Things just layout well and seem to arrange in a manner of importance. Top pouches are mainly “every stage” items and lower are “once a day” or “not so often” stuff. Great job making a useful, purpose built bag that looks good and built rugged.
I am an avid shooter and utilize indoor shooting ranges in my area. This range backpack is perfect for indoor range rules of bringing your firearm to the shooting area in a case. This product has three separate handgun pouches that can hold a handgun along with magazines. This makes it easy to just bring the handgun I want to shoot up to the shooting station instead of bringing my whole bag with me. It also makes it easy to then place the separate pouches back into my gun safe for storage after I have cleaned them. I appreciate how well thought out the pack is and that it has room for all of my ammo and shooting accessories. The pack is high quality material and is well worth the price I like the fact that it even has a separate plastic box for tools/cleaning equipment. I hope the manufactures read this and make a rifle bag that is similar! If you appreciate quality firearm accessories this is probably the top of the line range backpack you can buy!
My local shooting range listed this range bag as a "must get", so I became curious and found it on Amazon. When I read a review that this range backpack was being used while shooting at handgun competitions, I became even more curious because I am getting involved with the IDPA. After reading the Amazon reviews and visiting the G.P.S. website goutdoorsproduct to find more pictures, I discovered that while their website does not show pictures of all the compartments, it does give the potential customer a better descriptive idea of what to expect in terms of material construction and versatility.Their website indicates that this range backpack is made from "1000 Denier H.D. material with Dupont teflon coating" (I assume that "H.D." means "high density"), and is triple-stitched with nylon that is both "mildew and rot resistant." Several very good plusses.Very useful is their use of visual identification tags to help with the issue of conveniently organizing all the necessary items that a shooter needs on the range. Of course, there's never enough room or compartments to put everything that could be taken to the range, but given the size constraints of a backpack they came close.I tried to attach a Maxpedition Bottle Holder for my Klean Kanteen to the G.P.S range backpack, but the Maxpedition's attached carabiner is too small to connect plastic "D" ring near the range bag's carrying handle. Maxpedition's grimlocks solved that issue!I also attached two of Maxpedition's Double Sheaths to put extra magazines in and attached them to the handgun storage access panel's MOLLE webbing system. An extra bit of cool factor, perhaps, but adding even more accessibility to extra loaded magazines.I was very glad to see that the shooting glass compartment was lined with velour. I was concerned that my new Wiley-X shooting glasses wouldn't fit. And, while snug, the glasses are now protected from accidental and very aggravating lens scratches!Since other reviewers have sufficiently reviewed this range backpack's other features, some of which I repeat, I won't bore you with including them here. The true test for any gear that describes itself as "tactical" is how well it holds up against regular use in both range and tactical environments. That remains to be seen. I do hope, for my gear (not just my handguns and my bank account), that it does. For those who are interested, I plan on updating this review several months down the road to determine just how "tactical" this range backpack is. I do take care of my equipment, so I won't be testing it's durability by purposely dropping it while flying an airplane or out of a fast moving vehicle. However, if one of these unlikely scenarios do occur, I'll be sure to let you know and if it holds up well, give it an earned 5 stars.UPDATE: Jan 12, 2015. While I haven't used my shooting bag as much as I would like to, it is one tough range bag. As with all range bags, there are some trade-offs. The main trade-offs for this bag are the three internal gun cases. Yes, one can insert about 3-4 magazines in the gun case along with a 1911-sized pistol. However, don't try to insert a pistol with an extended magazine-well into it because the zipper will not close completely. Also, some have asked if placing a miniature luggage locks on the gun cases would meet security requirements for transporting handguns. My short answer is no. There are several reasons these internal gun cases would not suffice, and I don't recommend it because they simply would not serve as a deterrent to any wanna-be thief with a pair of pliers. In the middle top storage space, I place my shooting muffs, shooting gloves, and shooting eye glass case. In the top storage space just in front of the carrying handle, I put several boxes of ammo, an extra holster and a speed loader. The side compartment opposite the internal gun cases, there is space for a stapler to staple targets. All the other internal storage spaces are labeled, which takes the guesswork out of deciding how to organize the range bag.As I mentioned in my first review, I attached 2 external double sheaths to carry extra magazines. Attaching these additional magazine sheaths have paid off on the shooting range because of their increased accessibility. Also, though adding the insulated water bottle carrier adds more weight to the bag, it still is an excellent addition. In my opinion, the G.P.S. Tactical Range Backpack is on par with Maxpedition's gear. Moreover, there are many military personnel who have taken Maxpedition gear out to Iraq and Afghanistan and attest to the products' durability. I personally own, and use on a regular basis, four different Maxpedition bags for EDC purposes, and none of the bags have ever failed me.Finally, since I purchased the G.P.S. Tactical Range Backpack, the price has increased dramatically. It may be a testament to the bag's growing popularity, but I recommend either waiting until the price goes down or see if there is another online dealer who sells it for less. A definite two thumbs up for this bag's practicality and ruggedness.
Great range bag for pistols. Very happy with the quality
Rígida y segura para las armas a prueba de caídas cabe todo lo necesario para el tiro práctico
Well constructed, strong zips, ample storage space , only small size stapler will fit in the compartment labelled for a stapler. The lockable section will only take a padlock with a 4mm diameter hasp .The plastic storage box does not close properly and is useless.
Absolutely the best range bag out there. The bag is well laid out and has ample room for all the key bits of gear you'll need for a day at the range. I also like that it frees my hands to carry a rifle case, target stands or other gear. Although it comes with three pistol sleeves, I usually run with one pistol sleeve which leaves the perfect amount of space for a small Plano plastic ammo box. Furthermore, the molle slots allow me to attach my range FAK (first aid kit) and water bottle holder (or any other take specific kit you have). Buy this bag!
