Compact. Low noise level. Seems to work well. Simple install

Our old garage door opener 'died'. I replaced it with the Atoms ATR-1611W. I installed it by myself without too much trouble. The smartphone app. is not well documented but I finally figured that you don't need some of the additions recommended. After several months of use there seems to be a flaw where you have to push the button several times to make the door operate. Unable to figure out why. Also I can not add an extension to the antenna to get better reception from outside the garage. If anyone knows how, please let me know.

It's super quiet and easy to install but don't even think about trying to set up the app with an Android device because it won't let you connect. I tried it multiple times but it didn't work so I set it up with an iPhone and it worked... After the set up of the app you can use your Android app without any problems. I'm really happy with it.

So, I bought this because it was cheap. First mistake. Instal was easy. Remotes are proprietary which was really annoying as I had to buy new remotes. And my Q garage door opener won't work with it. So, all that money I saved went into proprietary accessories. So then we had a power outage and the dar thing stopped working after that. I reset everything, no dice. Assuming it was an issue from the outage and I already invested in accessories I stupidly bought a second one. Just shy of a year later same issue. You try to use the door and the unit blinks in error and won't do anything. Sensors are clear and aligned, track is fine. I reset it and everything works during set up, and after a couple times of using it, it craps out again. Junk.

Work great. Really quiet and easy to install. 3 stars because the wifi functionality fo any work. The app is complete crap. Do not expect to be Able to control via WiFi.

This is a good opener and is very quiet. The most difficult part of the installation was installing and tensioning the chain. The pulley looks bent to me but the opener has been working fine. Time will tell whether it will be a problem at some point. Overall I am happy with the opener

Good little opener, I used it on a ten foot uninsulated door. It works as advertised.

Good: I bought the 1/2hp, chain drive, wifi version. The opener is priced well in that configuration compared to other brands. Install was straightforward and went fine (i was replacing an old unit that died). The product is quiet even with chain drive.Bad: The integrated LED light is white like a welder arc. Its brutal from a color perspective. I wish it could be disabled. It can not be. Oh well... no big deal.The big problem I had is with the wifi add on (i paid $20 extra thinking it had clear value). The app connects fine when your phone and the opener are on the same network, but when you try to access remotely, it does not allow you to see status or open/close the door. It interesting because open/close notifications work fine. Its not just me either - see reviews in the app store and you will realize it is complete trash. Worse yet, the wifi dongle plugged into the opener was absolutely killing the remote opener range. I had to pull within 10 feet of the door for the opener to work. When i unplugged that wifi dongle, range was fine (250 feet at least).I wish I just bought the cheapest, chain drive, non wifi version of this opener. The Wifi option has LESS THAN ZERO VALUE and i'm out $20 (and i don't have the wifi function that i did actually want in a new opener).

Got one of these for the first door to test it out based on the positive reviews here. After an easy install, I got another one for the second door. The instruction booklet is very detailed and explains things well, but if you're handy, it's faster to watch the video. Make sure you understand everything though - the last thing you want is have this thing crash down on your car or worse, have the door fall down on someone. Make sure you have a helper. Having two step ladders is helpful.Assembly of the chain/rails is pretty easy. The most time consuming part is finding the studs in your walls for attaching the brackets and the actual opener to your wall/ceiling, and then neatly running and securing all the wires. The only extra supplies you need are a 2x4 or 2x6, steel slats to secure to the ceiling, and screws, bolts, washers, and nuts to secure the wood and steel slats.The people complaining here about bad instructions or brackets tearing off walls likely didn't follow the instructions or warnings based on their type of setup. You NEED to put a 2x4 or 2x6 to the wall first and then secure the wall bracket to it - DO NOT install the bracket directly to the wall because it will come off. Also use a level to keep everything level as best you can, but don't worry too much because the way this is designed, there is a bit of play at the wall and door connections which is a good thing.Another tip: when it comes to securing the rail to the wall, angle it up to the wall so the door end can be attached to the wall while the motor is pointed to the floor. Then while you lift the motor end up to the ceiling, have someone open the door all the way, then rest the rails on the door with small 2x4 or something similar between the top of the door and the rails - This makes installation MUCH easier and ensures you can centre the motor on the centre line of the door and also help to keep it level. Just make sure someone is to there to hold the door up just in case it decides to slide down.The opener itself is very small and quiet compared to other brands. The WiFi version is also handy to open/close the door using your phone as well as controlling the light. Just as an FYI, when you close the door using the app, it beeps for about 5 seconds as a warning that the door is going to close. I contacted support about this and they said the warning is there because they assume if you use the app, you are probably doing so remotely so it warns anyone near the door to stand back.The unit is easy to program to set the open/close limits and also to program remotes, the keypad if you got one, and also the WiFi adapter.A note on the WiFi adapter: both openers I ordered arrived in packaging that made it seem like the units inside were not WiFi capable. The model number printed on both boxes was "ATOMS ATR-1611C" but there was a "W" sticker covering up the "C". However don't be alarmed because it just seems like they're using the same box for both models. The "ATOMS ATR-1611W" model contains a separate USB WiFi adapter/dongle in the box.My only complaint is that I wish the app allows for control of the LED timer. I didn't time it by it looks like once activated, the light stays on for about 2 minutes. Would've been nice if you could control that using the app or if the LED was motion sensitive.But these are minor complaints. For the price and ease of install, this is a good unit. We'll see how the two of my units hold up.

When I received this product it was missing the wifi adapter. Simple mistake in packing/shipping I would imagine. It was also a simple problem to solve. Completely impressed with the support I received. They were lightning fast to respond with a couple questions, and once I provided answers they shipped out the missing part that same day. Product is now working as intended and I’m happy. A company is often measured by how they respond when things go wrong, and to that end this company measures up very well.As for the product.. I was immediately surprised by how small it is. But it was pretty easy to install, and this was the first opener I’d ever tried to install. There’s a couple places where I think the instructions could have been more clear, and I did end up having to back track and turn the chain around at one point. That could have been avoided with cleared diagrams and instructions. But hey, it really wasn’t a big deal and it set me back about 10 minutes. I can live with that, being a novice and all.It’s freshly installed, so I cannot speak to longevity at this point. But it’s quiet for a chain drive, the wifi function and app were easy to set up and appear to be working well, and really, I couldn’t ask for anything else. I like that my phone pings when my door is opened.

This chain drive is quiet! If you are considering a belt drive because of noise, you needn't bother. You really only hear the door moving - neither the chain or motor make any appreciable noise.Prior to receiving the unit, I received an email from Skylink assuring me they are there to help, and with a link to an installation video. Clicking that link took me to a YouTube page with 4 Skylink videos - none of which were for the unit I purchased, the tube rail, 1/2 hp, chain model. You can look around and find the correct video, but even then, part way through it shows a belt rather than a chain. That said, the video is helpful because the paper installation guide is also lacking a few points, such as connecting the door to the trolley (different trolley for chain and belt) and how to set the force limits. So, read the guide and watch the videos carefully. After delivery, I received another email from Skylink, asking if all is well and again assuring they are there to help. I did get everything installed, so I didn't test their response but it was nice they reached out.The unit is not hard to install if you are a bit handy. It is very compact, maybe a third of the size of the unit it replaced. It might be a bit slower than the previous unit, but if so, not by much. This unit connects to your wifi. The Oribt app on your phone takes time every time you move to it to connect. I think most people will be frustrated at that, as even 20 seconds is a long time if you are just sitting there waiting for it. Although the app is closed, it will send you an email notification, if you so desire, each time the door opens, closes. So, the app runs in the background on your phone. Be aware of that if you are carefully managing battery, etc. I also got it working with Alexa, although again the provided instructions are unclear. The paper guide says watch the video. The video says to add the unit as a device in the Alexa app - but offers no help in do so - and then create a skill for it. Turns out you don't add it as a device, just create the skill, which the video helpfully shows. What it doesn't show is that in the Orbit app you have to create a 4 digit pin which Alexa will ask you for. Once done, Alexa will open and close the door, although thus far, I've found Alexa a little harder to convince to close. Must be very precise with the wording of your instruction. I've yet to try setting it up with IFTTT to automatically open/close due to proximity, but I am hopeful.If it is durable, the Atom is a great buy, as the cheapest unit available with wifi to boot. Did I mention it is quiet? Just be aware the instructions leave a little to be desired. The unit took a week to be delivered, although at the time of ordering, I expected it in the usual 2 days. I was patient. Recommended.

good easy to install works great

The actual product and set up are straightforward. The manual was easy to understand and easy to read. Now the part that turns into a nightmare is the set up of the remote and setting up the door opening and closing. The manual has all the wrong directions and would not work obviously. Went in to watch the set up video finally after a very frustrating hour and no answer on the help line. Watched the video and it was completely different to how to set up the door opener. Absolutely ridiculous. Wasted time and frustrating. Why would you put an instruction manual out that isn't telling the right set up. So dumb.
