Solid white noise machine. No apps, no nonsense. just turn it on and it works. The sound is real and consistent, not that fake looped noise. Helps me sleep and blocks out random house and street noise. Been reliable and worth the money.

What a great white noise maker this is!This came into my life when my son was born in 2018. The need for background noise in a big, creaky, 120-year-old house is no joke. Especially when you add a brand new person who barely knows how to do anything but breathe and sleep.This Dohm Classic is about the size of a spindle of CDs (that's 1 iPhone wide, and 2/3 of an iPhone tall for all you whippersnappers). Not tiny, but the fact that the noise you're hearing is actually being made by a spinning fan (not a speaker) means it needs to have some real estate inside for parts. There are no timers or automatic functions, just ON/OFF, and the ability to change the noise characteristics by rotating the body in two places to change how the rushing air vibrations leave the device. It's loud enough that it can sit on a centrally-located table in our upstairs hallway and be heard solidly in both bedrooms, each approximately 10 feet away.My review title states that we've purchased two of these in seven years. I'm an engineer, so it's not unheard of for me to take things apart when they stop functioning. After about four years of nightly use (11+ hours per night) the first unit started making some extra grinding, groaning noises that my engineer brain instantly pegged as an unhappy motor. I removed the four screws on the bottom and did my best to clean the interior and add a couple drops of small motor oil to the parts that move. Put back together, the thing operated fine. Over the next two years, I'd regularly open it up and repeat the process every few months. You can hear the noise characteristics change over time, so (assuming you're comfortable doing so) you'll know when it's time for a cleaning. At the end of year six, it was not happy at all. Screaming and screeching, and refusing to spin. Nothing a complete disassembly and cleaning of the entire motor couldn't fix! Squeaked another three months out of it before retiring it to our vacation home and purchasing a brand new one for home. I was HAPPY to spend another $40 for something that performed so well for so many years!Pro Tip:Plug this into a smart outlet so you can automate a schedule and even add timer functionality if you want!

This is exactly what I needed! I put one in each of my daughters rooms and it provides just enough white noise to drown out the noise of me getting ready (hair dryer, dog noise, conversation with my boyfriend who is also getting ready) in the morning. With this they continue to get more restful sleep while I get ready. It also works during the day when my youngest wants to read aloud to herself (which drives her big sister nuts when she is trying to read quietly) and they both turn their white noise machines on it drowns out the youngest voice just enough that the oldest isn't bothered. Overall it has been a great purchase for our home!!!

This sound machine sounds absolutely immaculate. It's a heavy little thing. I am so disappointed that I immediately have to return it because I misunderstood its loudness level. On all the holes open and highest speed, it is more suited for an office space rather than trying to drown out the ridiculous amount of noise my brother makes in the early mornings. When I heard it in my doctor's office, I actually thought it was on low. Completely my mistake. It's a good product but it just doesn't fit my purpose.

I bought this in October 2016, and it’s still going February 2026! I bought it for when I worked night shift to drown out daytime noise and it was good. Then I had a baby and it moved into the nursery. I’ve barely turned it off since then 😅 it’s such a good noise I forget it’s even on, until it’s not. My kiddos now 7 & we pack it for vacations as well. It really is easy and I love that it’s always the same. It could be louder, but it does a great job drowning out a decent amount of noise.

Really great machine -- love the noises it makes with the fans and the configuration (literally just turning the shell of the machine) is easy to adjust to make different volumes/sounds. I was able to block out the sound of conversations/noises outside of my office with ease. The only real (minor) issue that bothered me a bit is the placement of the cord. It's on the side of the machine (rather than in the back), so if you were to place this machine on a shelf, for example, the machine can really only only be placed in a sideways position. It's a bit annoying, since this placement means that the knob to turn the machine on/off will perpetually be facing sideways, rather than head-on.

LOVE LOVE LOVE!! Purchased as a replacement for one I’d had for probably 20 years. I was worried it would be different it it’s not and my sleep is back to good. Might buy a second for our guest room.

I really like this product. It gives off just enough sound that it blocks most external sounds (including some light snoring). Play with the louvers to find the sweet spot s fast as sound goes. Small size, sits on my night stand next to my phone charger.

This is the best white-noise machine out there. It's the third one we buy; we now all have one in our bedrooms. It's a steady noise; perfect for sleeping, concentrating, cutting out annoying noise coming from outside. Not quite as loud as an air purifier, but louder than a regular fan. Over the years, our kids have inherited our DOHM and the oldest model we have is probably 10 years old now. It still makes a perfectly steady noise; no rattles. We are 3 pp with ADHD in the family and this white-noise maker helps tremendously!!

We bought this to help our newborn son go to sleep and stay asleep, since we were living in a small 2 bedroom apartment and wanted to mask the noises we made in the kitchen or other rooms while baby was sleeping. This noise machine was easy to operate and adjust the sound. I like that it is a true noise machine (it just sounds like a loud fan), and not a recording that loops over and over again. Baby slept mostly uninterrupted. We think he's now able to tune into 'sleep mode' when we turn the noise machine on. Baby's about to turn 1 year old now, and we still use this noise machine below his crib every night. Great purchase, effective noise machine.

Works like a charm. My sister-in-law recommended this product, she has one for both her kids (ages 2 and 4).In the past, I was using my iPad with Bluetooth speakers to play white noise for both my kids. Soon after I received it in the mail, I put it on for their naps (I have a 6 month old and a 3 year old). It works like a charm! Before this machine, everyone (including my 3 year old) was required to be on stealth mode soon after the 6 month old baby went to bed (at 6:00PM). Almost impossible with the 3 year old but he did his best. This machine cancelled out the noise we made upstairs as well as, it helped my son sleep soundly.As my husband and I listened to sound we both observed the sound it emits somehow clears your mind. Call me crazy. It works. I am happy with this product.
