I am unfamiliar with the type of paint in these markers. It almost seems like chalk (actual powdered chalk), mixed with the paint. I don’t think this is actually the case, but the finish of these markers is very ‘dry,’ with a lovely matte finish. If you color and recolor an area, the paint physically builds up on the page. Whatever the paint’s composition, these markers flow well and produce strong colors. They don’t have the depth you can get with oil paints; but they have nice, full coverage and the colors are bright and appeaing; and you can color with them! These markers come with precious little information: no usage instructions; list of what types of surfaces they will work well with; not even color labels on the different markers! There Is a set of numerical identifying stickers, meant to go on each end of each marker. The numbers on the stickers match the list of colors which is printed on the inside of the raised lid of the box. The stickers, and the list, are in the same order as the markers. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize this fact until After I had inadvertently mixed up the markers. This happened because a) my first action on unwrapping these markers was to remove some at random, to try them out; and b) because there was No instruction or explantion about these identifying stickers provided with these markers! Now I have the not-quite-fun task of figuring out which stickers go with which marker. As shown in one of my pictures, I have, so far, barely gotten past black and white.Note that in addition to the slightly unusual situation of labeling your markers utilizing a set of stickers and a list of colors, there’s an additional twist in this little project: arithmetic! There are three “parts” involved: 48 markers; a list of 48 colors; and a set (two per marker) of 48 stickers. But these three parts, 48 each, are divided differently. The markers are in 3 rows of 16. The list of colors is in 6 rows of 8. The stickers, in vertical sets of two, are in 4 rows of 12. All different, all totaling 48. One might not recognize them for what they are; and one might become distracted, then confused, about what goes where. … Or not. This labeling setup is not a detriment; in fact, it could be an interesting, potentially fun, learning opportunity, by making it into a project, and including children in the process. However, if you want to avoid having it fall into chaos, you must keep the markers in the order they were in when they arrived. This is a very drawn-out way of saying that the manufacturer/seller of these markers should include this information: in the listing, and most especially On the Box! (“These markers do not come with identifying color labels on them. A list of the colors is provided on the inside of the box lid. A set of stickers, two per marker, is also enclosed. The list and stickers are in the same order as the markers’ placement in the box. In order to avoid mixing up the markers, generating confusion about which marker is which color, DO NOT REMOVE THE MARKERS FROM THE BOX UNTIL YOU ARE READY TO LABEL THEM, or if you decide Not to label them. Thank you.)My set of markers came with the stegosaurus; cool! There was no instruction about inflating it, but there was a thin plastic straw included in the box, and little clear plastic flaps on the stego’s, err, behind. (I nearly halfway find this amusing, but I more than halfway don’t.) Anyway, I stuck the straw in the opening, and blew. This inflated my dinosaur. Cute.Okay: I like these markers; my inner child likes them a Lot. On one of the images in the listing, it states they are waterproof. I am testing this; I added some color to an old cotton scarf. They work rally well on cotton, by the way! The colors dried to the touch almost immediately, but I wi wait 24 hours, then check what happens when the scarf goes through the laundry. I put up a picture of the notebook page on which I made some samples and tests. At the bottom I tested putting one color on over another color. It works, but it doesn’t ‘pop.’ Also, doing this will get the first color on the second color’s nib. I had to do some doodling to get the dar color off the yellow nib. The third image is the back of the page. This is notebook paper, 20- or 22-lb. There is little show-through, and No bleed-through. Not bad.

Update: Raising it a star because my 7 year old really likes coloring with these markers in her coloring books. She loves that they don’t bleed through. I only let her use them when I’m there to help keep the younger kids away from them.Pros:- Acrylic pens don't bleed through paper (even normal printer paper), which is awesome.- Opacity is good. Colors won’t completely cover up black lines, but they will lay over each other with decent coverage.- Good color variety!- Work well for kids because these paint pens don’t need to be pumped. They’re a simple grab and start coloring type. So, with supervision, my 3 year old, 7 year old, and I were all able to use these to color a picture together. However, I am not recommending them for young kids.- nibs are large enough to color things relatively quickly and small enough to be able to color smallish areas in a kids coloring book (but not small enough for little details)Cons:- NOT AT ALL WASHABLE. Very hard to scrub off even a plastic kids table. These do wash off skin, but since they’re permanent on everything else, I would not say these should be marketed to kids.- these leave a strange residue on paper. Like eraser shavings but they stick to the paper and make art look bad. I was able to rub it off mostly, but the quality of the paint lay down isn’t as good as similar products I’ve tried.- warps paper, so you need to tape down the paper in advance if you don’t want it to warp- marker labeling is a mess. Pens come unlabeled with a sheet of stickers. I tried to match them to the box and add stickers with my 7 year old and we both grew frustrated with the process long before finishing. I appreciate marker labeling, but if you’re not going to do it as a company, don’t make the customer guess about it. Just sell them completely unlabeled or label them.- Box is difficult to use. It’s designed to have a tiered pull out feature where the markers will be easier to use, but it doesn’t function that way. They all just slip out the sides. Nice idea, poor execution.Overall: These are fine if you want acrylic markers for kids to use WITH SUPERVISION. But they are a poor replacement for the classic washable kids markers because as a parent, washability and cleanup is a BIG DEAL.For adults, I would recommend getting a higher quality acrylic marker set with a brush tip or dual sided for a finer nib for details. From my experience, not all acrylic paint markers leave residue on paper like this set does too. So there’s better options for adults at the same or a lower price point.

Being acrylic, I assume these will be non-washable, a perfect reason to make them a gift to - ME! (I will share with the kids, under supervision.) While not exactly paint, these are more opaque than regular markers. They almost, but not quite, cover the black lines of the included picture, in my case a merry-go-round pony, far cuter than the pictured dinosaur. The colors really pop. The tips are a medium-fine point, so "coloring" is required for larger areas. The gradations of several of the 48 colors should lend to some nifty shadings of the flowers and foliage in the grown-up coloring book I've had lying around for ages. I will be supplying my own plastic container for these, as the box is pretty flimsy and the markers are not easy to take out and put back in. I was amused by a sticker sheet with 96 little round number labels, two of each corresponding to the included numbered color chart. Apparently, the purchaser is to apply a sticker to the bottom of each of the 48 markers. Yeah, that's not going to happen. I will cut out and keep the back of the box with the names of the colors, as some are lovely, (Pine Flower) and others are entertaining. (Green Sink?)

This set of acrylic (water based) markers exceeded my expectations. These markers work really well and there is a nice variety included. The color glides on easily and most surprisingly it doesn't bleed through thicker paper like in the premium coloring books. I still take the precaution of using a piece of cardboard under it though,.The tip is sort of medium. It is an odd rounded shape not the brush shape I usually get. Even so it works well in most situations. Fine detail work is where it won't really work as it doesn't have a fine enough tip or the right shape for the detailed work. The pens don't come prenumbered. Instead there is a sticker sheet with all the numbers and you are meant to number them yourself which is tricky since not all the colors are obvious. There is also a test chart for each color so you can have a test label chart. It does come with a little dino to color. It didn't come with the trex shown in the photos but instead a different dinosaur in the one I got. The dino was pretty wrinkled from being folded up.Overall I really like this set. I do wish they came prelabeled but that is a minor thing and doesn't take away from it.5 stars

The description says that these markers are for children, but I am not sure if they are permanent markers or washable ones. It does not say anything about that. I want to be sure that they are not permanent markers before I let my 6-year-old granddaughter loose with them. I much prefer the washable ones for her to use.My daughter said since they are acrylic that they would be used on fabric. Maybe I will just keep these out of sight for now. I have seen the damage that my granddaughter can do with markers. The colors are very pretty and with 48 markers, there is quite a wide variety of colors to choose from. I tried them out on some plain paper, and they do flow nicely, but that is all that I had time for.It comes with a sheet of numbers. I think that you are supposed to put those on the markers? There also is a color chart, but they are not in the box, the same order as the chart. You would have to determine yourself what color is what to put the labels on, and why would you even need to do that anyway.I will let my granddaughter color the dinosaur with supervision, that is. I want to see if it will really hold air in it.I think that these might be better suited for my grown daughter or I to use. When we do something with these markers, I will post a photo of it.

This is a nice set of kid-level acrylic markers. There are a lot of colors and they're easy to use. They dry fast and don't tend to track onto other surfaces (like little hands), but don't expect to mix colors or do much blending. They dry too fast for that. However, they do work easily and the colors are bright and clean. It includes stickers so you can label your markers. I'm too lazy for that, but as a kid, I'd have done that. There's also a little picture of a pony and I colored a bit to test the paints, but the paper is copy paper level. It lists itself as 3D stereoscopic markers and I don't know why. As far as I can tell, they're just markers, but since the directions are in Chinese, there may be a language issue. That said, it's a nice set. Little kid me would have LOVED it,so if you're kid is a burgeoning artist, you could probably do worse than this set.

The colors that are included in this set are very nice and vibrant, and with 48 different colors to choose from these should last a long time with proper use and storage. Speaking of storage the included box is decent but it's thin cardboard so while it will work since these are geared towards kids than it would be better to store these markers in a plastic case as that will keep them safe and won't rip or like the box could. In conclusion while I'm not a fan of using markers as I prefer colored pencils I have to admit that these are very nice and vibrant and if I had these as a kid instead of those commonly sold popular 8 count markers that I grew up with then I would have been spoiled by the vibrance of acrylic markers.

I know they say these are paint markers but in actual use they really feel a bit like regular markers. They are easy to use and produce a decent imprint, but I think I was expecting them to be a little more paint-y and a little less marker-y. This isn't really a complaint so much as an expectation that I'd held. These aren't a disappointment by any means. My child began using them right away and produced vibrant, colorful artwork in her sketch pad that came out looking really nice. The flow is consistent and the colors really pop - even the grey. I'm not in love with the box though. It's a nice organized system with three sliding trays but the whole thing is made of a cardboard like material that feels like it may not have a long life expectancy. Can't really comment on the 3D animal other than that we got a llama even though the sample photo on the product page indicated a dinosaur. Coloring her with the markers has been fun and simple, though I have not quite figured out yet how to inflate this thing. Will keep at it and report back with findings.
