I used thetiming tool kit today, and it made locking the camshafts and timing chain much easier. The tools feel solid and precise, and each piece fit perfectly without forcing anything. It saved a lot of time compared to trying to hold everything manually.The kit includes all six pieces you need for the job, and they feel durable enough for repeated use. Overall, it’s a reliable set for anyone working and was perfect for my Jeep.

If you own one of the many vehicles with a 3.6l Pentastar engine then you've probably heard of the infamous Pentastar tic. These engines have a reputation of having rocker arms fail which can lead to some major engine damage if not fixed in time. I recently had to replace a worn out rocker arm on my wife's 2015 GC that had developed a tic, fortunately I heard it pretty quickly and I was able to replace the rocker arm before any damage occurred to the cam.After replacing the rocker arm I realized I should probably have some tools on hand in case I inevitably have to replace a cam shaft or have to remove the cam shaft to replace all of the rocker shafts.This kit is cheap insurance in my opinion, it is also unfortunately not a complete kit if you are going to replace more than just the rocker arms as the complete kit is quite a bit more expensive and has a few extra parts. This kit will cover the basics though. The kit looks to be made of a durable plastic and I'm sure will hold up just fine for a diy person that will only use it a handful of times. I can't say how well it would hold up in a shop environment and daily use.The only complaint I have is with the case, the case that the kit comes in is very a very cheaply made blow molded case. I obviously shouldn't expect much for the price and the case does hold the parts in just fine, but I don't imagine it will hold up to much abuse.If you're mechanically inclined and own a 3.6l engine I would recommend having one of these kits on had just in case you ever have the infamous Pentastar tic.

I used this tool on a 2015 Jeep Wrangler with the 3.6L engine during a timing chain job, and it worked flawlessly. The camshaft holding tool fit perfectly and kept everything locked down securely, which made the process much smoother. What really stood out, though, was the tensioner unlocking tool. Being able to release the driver side timing chain without pulling the timing cover saved me a ton of time and hassle.Compared to other versions I’ve seen, especially the cheaper Chinese-made ones, this set feels noticeably better in terms of quality. The materials seem more durable, and the machining is cleaner. I’ve done a few timing jobs before, and this is one of the better kits I’ve used.If you’re tackling a timing chain replacement on a Pentastar engine, this tool set is absolutely worth having in your box.

Did not work for my 2016 jeep GC Laredo 3.6. Passenger head had two 13mm bolts to close which did not let either of the tools to work. Driver side kepts slipping or didnt fit between the head and the phaser. The keyed blocks to lock phasers did not fit well had to hit them in.

Was not an easy fit on 2020 Wrangler, but fit well enough to get the job done.

It’s fortuitous that I came across this timing tool kit. My van with the notorious Pentastar engine is due for a timing belt, new camshaft roller bearings, and I am also replacing the oil cooler. If you are doing this work, you have to have this kit to keep the camshaft in place. Otherwise, you’ll have a very bad day. There are several kits out there but this one seems to be a good value and should work well with the engine configuration. I can’t say how durable it is. I plan on doing the job one time maybe two in it’s lifetime. I can’t imagine it wearing out. The pieces are mostly made of plastic but it’s a hard type of durable plastic. It should work well. So far, I’m very happy with it.

I used the set on a 2014 pentastar 3.6 with a bad rocker arm this past weekend.It worked.The left and right timing chain lockers were tight, and required a palm strike to get them in. I didn't expect this because I'm videos they always seem to go right in, but I'm the end they did the job just fine.The belt tensioner release tools also worked, but remember to break everything loose first. I struggled trying to release the tension with the bearing caps and oil control bolts still tight.If you've done this before, you'll be good to go with this tool.If you haven't, watch a few videos, specifically the ones from motor City mechanic.
