This was a great upgrade from our old sealer that required two people; one to line up the bag and another to close the lid and click it shut. This unit is a one person operation. Line up the bag, select the required setting, and hit start. This lowers a mechanism that grabs hold of your bag and does all the work for you. There is a small anomaly in the directions that refer to "Dry", "Moist", and "Moist+". These settings vary the strength of the vacuum and the sealing time. The unit itself doesn't have a Moist+, it says "Liquid". This Liquid setting is necessary for juicy items like lunch meats (sliced turkey, ham, etc.). Juices will be extracted during the vacuum process. Unless you use the Liquid setting, the sealing time will be insufficient to "burn" through the juices and get a decent seal. Overall time for each 8 oz. package of meat took about 1 minute each. A little slower than our old unit, but with the ease of use, it wasn't much of an issue. We had two failures, but once we chose the Liquid setting, things worked out. Even manual vacuum is a breeze. If you have more delicate items and don't want to risk crushing anything, you can switch to manual and once you let go, it seals automatically. Very convenient over having to quickly click over to the seal button. Stainless steel design is attractive sitting on a countertop. The built in cutter is nice, but you can't fit the large rolls, only the smaller bags will fit. Comes with a convenient collection of premade and rolled bags. Good value for the price.

This was better than I thought I love it very easy to use value for money. Everything is just I enjoy how practical it is. Best I have come across so far.

I ordered this a little while ago but hadn't gotten myself back into a meal planning mood for a while. Yesterday was the day. I'll be honest too, I didn't do a great job of reading about all the features of the unit when I placed the order, so I had a lot of pleasant surprises.I love the simplicity of it - there are stickers on the lid so you know just how to do it correctly without having to read a manual or go online to find instructions (in the product pictures they don't show the stickers, so I added a couple of photos). I literally just followed the instructions on those stickers without even reading the manual.Compared to the OLD sealer machine we have, this one has a small footprint, which is nice because counter space is a premium in my kitchen and it's easy to store this in the pantry.I just used it for my favorite porkchop recipe, and I used the bags that came with it. It was such an improvement over the older machine we have and much more quiet. It seems to me that it was much faster than the old machine, but that might be because the older one required that you press and hold the lid down while it did it's thing - and it seemed to take a looooong time and it didn't always seal. This one I start it and then turn and am getting the next bag ready while it is sealing the other one.I like that there are different settings for different types of foods. I selected "Solids" for the pork chops, but there are also settings for liquids (love freezing soups and sauces) and soft foods (black beans, garbanzo beans - staples for a grab and heat healthy meal!).is machine has a removable tray for cleaning which when I'm freezing soups / salsas is going to be important because the top of the bag is always going to get food on it when pouring into them - even with the porkchops there as a little bit of a mess. But it was easy cleaned up without and complications.That is the extent of my testing on the product. For me, it was sufficient for me to decide to get back into meal planning / prepping.Once I had used it though I started discovering the nice features of the machine that I look forward to experimenting with. If I find that something is problematic, I will update my review.One of the surprises was that it has a hidden compartment for storing extra bags and YES they had extra bags in there. I didn't see those last night, I was using the ones that were loose in the box! That compartment is also where they store the external VAC for pressure sealing jars or other "container".Another nice feature I was surprised with! Naturally I didn't know that it had a cutter either - and I haven't used it so I can't speak to how well it works, etc. But I will be testing all those things out in the near future and will update the review.My final opinion of the product, without having experience with other more expensive brands - and with my limited experience with a dinosaur model - is that this is a great little machine and I would definitely recommend it to others!

I ordered this to replace a larger Foodsaver brand vacuum sealer that I've had for years. This one takes up considerably less counter space and with a little drawer purging I should be able to store it off the counter and in a drawer under the counter, which is a positive for me. The vacuum itself does get the job done but it's quite noticeably weaker and slower than my old bulky Foodsaver. My old one vacuums out a freezer size bag (few inches bigger than a sheet of printer paper) in 5-10 seconds while this drones on for 100-120 seconds. It's fine for processing a few bags or a small batch but on a larger batch it's slowness is annoying. Smaller sandwich size bags have less air to evacuate and go quite a bit quicker. This does work with my existing Foodsaver bags as well as the Foodsaver ziploc bags via the external hose. This kit should have included an adapter for the external hose to allow it to vacuum the vacuum cannisters, containers, mason lids and wine stoppers that need an air nipple to insert into their vacuum orifice. There are other brands of lids and stoppers that look like they should work with this specific kind of hose adapter. I'm sure I'll be able to buy a fitting somewhere that I can pull off the flat fitting and insert into the hose so I can use with my existing containers. If you're looking for ultra compact keep in mind that over 1/3 of this appliance's footprint is attributed to the storage compartment for a new bag roll. The heating element that does the sealing works OK but I wish this were a little better. You can tell by looking at the seal sometimes that it barely sealed adequate. Sometimes moisture gets in the seal line and these need a little more heat to be extra safe. I'm double sealing the bags to be safe (which it lets you do a seal without vacuum on the mode setting). I can not find a power button on this anywhere so I have been unplugging when not in use. Otherwise the unit stays on permanently, it doesn't have a timed shut off.*10/30/24 update: Not even a month and it no longer works. Makes a lot of noise like it's doing something but waiting and waiting like before just ends with it heat sealing closed a bag full of air. I've probably vacuumed about 15 bags max since I received this and the later ones left quite a bit of air inside until finally it doesn't vacuum at all. Tried multiple different bags and vacuum cans and it doesn't.**12/22/24 update: I ordered a replacement sealer and the replacement was worse than the one that failed in under a month. The 2nd one has never been able to vacuum the air out of a bag in the flat bag section. I purchased a large roast and cut into sections to freeze in vac sealer bags and this machine runs and runs and runs resulting in some of the air vacuumed out of the bag and then it seals shut. These packages float in water due to the remaining air so I'll be good if there's ever a flood. The hose external is able to vacuum but the flat slot will no since the first day. It's not dirty since I don't use it, it just doesn't work.

This is a pretty nice vacuum sealer. There is a bit of a learning curve at first, but it is easy to overcome. The bags need extra room for the seal, but you get used to the correct volumes quickly enough. It is very convenient and quick.The included bags were nice, but there was only one size available. It is hard to know how well it seals larger items because I didn't have any bags big enough to test. It would be better if they included sample bags so you get a wider range of options. This would make it easier to buy just the sizes you need, rather than buying them all to guess what you need. For $80, a couple of extra bags would have been nice.It does not work well with zip-top bags, if you want to try to save money on cheaper bags. The plastic on these bags wasn't thick enough, so it just melted instead of sealing. You need to use higher-quality bags.Overall it's a good sealer. We're looking forward to using it for leftovers or for bagging jerky for road trips. It should help us keep food fresh for a long time.

Edit:I am taking one star off the review for the bag cutter. That was one of the things I was pretty excited for. It should work that you feed this through the slot, pull the bag through and then slide the cutter. Unfortunately the blade positioning is off and you can only cut this by putting the bag under the lid.I have added a video of this issue.Please be assured when I discovered this, I was using two hands as suggested, so it is not that.I selected this as my old food saver vacuum sealer has been struggling this year.
