This shake is light and yummy! Some other drinks mess with my stomach, the vital protein shake is smooth and it doesn’t taste chalky like some other protein drinks.

I used Vital Proteins collagen powder in my drinks already but when I saw these ready to drink protein drinks (Vital Proteins® Chocolate Collagen & Protein Shake, 30g Total Protein Including 10g Collagen Peptides, Healthy Hair, Skin, Nails & Joints**), I wanted to try them out. These are very portable and convenient since it's a small carton that's very easy to open with a twist cap that is easy to reseal. The carton is pretty robust, it does not leak on its own so it can be put into your bag for when you're ready to drink it. As soon as these arrived, I popped a pack of 4 into the fridge since I like it cold. Later we tested it out.I shook it up, opened it, and poured half into a glass for my husband and I just drank the rest from the carton. It's got a thickness that resembles heavy cream, like chocolate flavored heavy cream, the thickness comes from the gellan gum which my stomach handles way better than carrageenan. I was very surprised that it wasn't overly sweet but just enough to help with the chocolate flavor to be more pronounced. The texture is velvety and not at all gritty. I was surprised by that aspect, I didn't find any grit as I was drinking it. It truly reminded me of chocolate milk. It was easy to drink without any obnoxious aftertaste unlike any of the pea protein drinks on the market that taste bad to me. I think Vital Proteins found a formula that may be acceptable to more palettes than be a turn off. You will never please everyone's taste buds, but I suspect this will be more drinkable than most other brands for the same protein and collagen ready to drink category.I think the retail pricing is fair for the convenience. I think for me, I would still prefer to use their powder so I can add it to more drinks and at the quantity I'd desire for that day. This is a great supplement to that on days I'm super busy and want a protein and collagen drink but don't have the time to create it on my own. It already had my husband when I said it was chocolate flavor, he was super excited for its arrival.I did not experience any stomach or digestive issues with using this product at all. I really like it and appreciate that it is low carb compliant with monk fruit and stevia as the sweetener of choice. I'm so glad I was able to get this to try out.

A pre-made protein shake that’s been sitting in a box for a month after a delayed shipment doesn’t exactly scream “dessert experience incoming.” But I chilled one down, cracked it open, and genuinely had to stop and reconsider my life choices. In a good way.The chocolate flavor is rich without being cloying, and there’s none of that chalky protein-powder aftertaste that makes you feel you’re drinking punishment. It tastes like something you’d actually choose to drink, not something you’re choking down because you made a deal with your future self. A large gulp followed my first sip. Oh... this is yummy.Then came the second shocker: I had this after a light meal. I was still hungry. And I was treating this chocolate drink like a dessert. Afterward, I sat in my living room chair and thought about how much I enjoyed that drink, and then it hit me. I was no longer hungry. None. Finished. No rummaging through the kitchen looking for something else to eat before going to bed.Thirty grams of protein, including ten grams of collagen peptides, apparently means business when it comes to satiety, and at 160 calories with only three grams of carbs, that’s a remarkable trade. Low-carb folks, this one’s for you. (Keto man myself)The ingredients list is almost suspiciously clean for a ready-to-drink shake. Milk protein concentrate, collagen peptides from bovine, cocoa, monk fruit, stevia. That’s basically it. No ingredient you need a chemistry degree to pronounce, no rice flour, no mystery fillers. Just protein doing protein things.The four-pack cartons are genuinely portable, too. Toss them in a cooler for a road trip, throw one in your bag, keep them at your desk. The format is as practical as the formula.My only complaint is that I now want more of them, which is probably the highest praise a consumable can get.TLDR: 160 calories, 30g protein, 3g carbs, clean ingredients, tastes like dessert, fills you up like a meal. This is the best ready-to-drink protein shake I’ve tried. Full stop.

I use Vital Proteins collagen powder a lot, so I was pretty excited to try this one. It is very convenient to have a protein shake to have in the morning so I was happy to try these. I usually go more for vanilla flavored, but chocolate is my second favorite. This chocolate is good at the onset, but it tastes a bit watery after the first taste. The texture is fine, no chunks or strange clumping. There is no need to mix it since it is prepared already and it is nice to be able to grab one to go.There are no added sugars which is a plus. The ingredient list is very clean with essentially Milk protein concentrate, collagen peptides from bovine, cocoa, monk fruit, stevia. It will work for keto and low carb diets for sure. This will become my go to for breakfast and I will now no longer need to mix in collagen powder into my coffee, which is a plus also. Recommended.
