Works as advertised. There a few minor changes I would make if it was my product; so 4 instead of 5 stars. But I still like it and use it regularly.

This is crap. It is easy to put together but it is difficult to use. The slices are not even and can be dangerous for cutting. It does not hold the bread in place.

El material es bueno , para panes grandes y blandos no me ha funcionado bien ya que el pan no tiene donde apoyarse y las varillas donde pasa el cuchillo son flojas y al no mantener una posición fija las rebanadas no salen parejas , además no me gusta que no puedas fijar la parte de bambú que se recorre para el ancho del pan entonces tambien se anda moviendo , entonces para panes grandes y blandos no me gustó, pero no lo voy a devolver porque lo compré principalmente para cortar biscottis que el pan no es alto , le empecé a hacer unas adecuaciones para lo que yo lo necesito, por ejemplo una es que cuando corto el biscotti necesito firmesa en la mesa y aqui en la parte del corte queda un vacío que hace que se medestroce mi biscotti ya que lleva doble horneada y cuando va la primera y tienes que cortarlo se desmorona , entonces le puse una tabla a la medida y con eso ya quedó , y pienso cortar las varillas ya que para biscotti están muy altas, no he encontrado una cortadora para biscottis especialmente y ésta es la que vi que puedo modificar, ojalá y esta reseña la vean los fabricantes y piensen en sacar una cortadora para biscottis. saludos

If you bake your own bread or prefer to cut the bakery bread yourself, this is a marvelous gadget. It folds nicely and is very easy to clean. You have to set it up properly, but you have several slice widths to choose from. It takes a bit of getting used to because you have to hand onto the bread but it is an excellent value.

It was not the easiest to use.

First of all, the plastic wrap on the brass finished bits is just maddening to remove. It's almost as sticky as tape but tears so easily that you'll be picking off little pieces for about 10 minutes. Otherwise, it was packaged very well and in perfect condition.The wood is crafted very nicely. It's sanded beautifully as well but completely raw (not sealed in any way). The instructions make it clear that it's not intended to be wet for any duration. Seem like a light coat of oil (even simple vegetable oil) is probably a good idea. After all, it will eventually absorb at least some oil from breads over time won't it?It's mostly easy to use although a little fiddly. I thought it would be helpful for cutting nice even slices of banana bread since others in my household find making even cuts challenging. Well, if you're in the same boat, this probably won't help with that. It takes just about as much "talent" to use this as just cutting with no guide at all. I suppose if you have the patience to deal with something like this, it will produce more even cuts than most people can get otherwise. Maybe I'm just good with a knife?The magnets do work to hold both knives I tried but I question whether it's really any safer with the knife up in the air waiting for an unsuspecting victim. The knife that worked best had a curved handle (one of those As Seen on TV jobbers) to give your fingers clearance from the countertop at the end of the cut.The adjustment isn't exactly precision by any means. You still have to hold the bread and tray with your other hand to end up with a straight cut. Personally I just don't see the point of all this fuss to possibly get a more even slice of bread. Perhaps if I had another example to compare this one to I could point out the differences. Maybe I just don't get it.Overall, it seems more like one of those nice things to look at in the right kitchen but in reality just won't get used much. Obviously the manufacturer has wood-working skills. Maybe there are other products they could make that more people would find more useful.

This was packed extremely well and arrived in perfect condition. Once you understand how it works, it’s does the job very, very well.

Since I switches to sourdough from the supermarket, getting consistent slices with my normal breadknife was difficult, the tops and bottoms of each slice were wonky, some ends too thick or thin. And this is exactly what I needed. It's made of bamboo, which feels solid and the guides are precise enough for very uniform, consistent slices each time. It has four thickness settings and they pretty much cover any preference, whether for sandwiches or toast.Assembling it was very quick, about 5 minutes, instructions were clear too. The crumb tray is a nice convenient touch, especially with thick crust bread, which is going to make a mess regardless. It slides out for cleaning easily.I mostly use very rustic shaped loaves, which it handles fine, I tried a standard rectangular one, which worked well too. The only issue is very soft white bread, which compresses a lot as you slice, but that's a bread issue, not a product issue.
