Well constructed
I recently picked up this L-shaped cat scratching board, and my first impression of the wood grain finish is that it looks much nicer in my living room than those standard carpeted posts. Putting it together was fairly easy and didn't take much time at all, which I really appreciated. The design is quite clever, featuring a hanging ball and three little play balls tucked into the bottom to keep a curious pet entertained. One thing I quickly realized is that because of the ramp's shape and weight distribution, it must be leaned against a wall for stability to prevent it from sliding or tipping during a vigorous scratch session. While it seems like a sturdy and well-made piece of solid wood furniture, my cats haven't used it yet. They are still in that "suspiciously sniffing it from a distance" phase, but the quality of the scratching surface feels like it will hold up well once they finally decide to give it a go. For now, it's a stylish addition to the corner of the room that I'm hopeful will become a new favorite spot soon.
Fur ball has a ring on it to tie string (not mentioned) Two day Prime shipping turned into 5 days waiting. Happening too often Amazon! You owe me!!!
Amazing! Sturdy enough for my big boy Maine Coon. He loves it as do my 2 domestic house cats. Great quality and easy assembly. I can finally stop buying the messy cardboard scratchers!
Easy to assemble and is pretty solid. The cats took right to it! Size is really good and it is easy to set near a wall so it does not take a ton of room.
My cats are not the biggest fans of this. I thought they would like the balls on the bottom, but they really don’t play with them much. The fabric part of the scratcher I think is a bit too loose for them and their claws get hung up so they don’t use this as much as I hope that they would. It’s nice looking, easy to put together and it seems well-made but the kitties don’t like it. I may just take the balls off of it and let them play with them on the floor.
Good concept but needs more stability and weight. The scratcher was easy to assemble -took about 10 minutes. Unfortunately, our cat scratched it once and it fell over. Definitely needs to be used horizontally and not vertically. Even horizontally it moved around when our big cat tried to scratch at it. Our two cats had almost no interest in it after the first hour. They played with the fluffy ball and took a few swipes at the scratch pad and haven't gone back to it. Cats and their toys are unpredictable - you never know what they'll like. Our cats have another scratching post that they use constantly. I think there are better designed models on the market thus I wouldn't recommend this one.
This review is for the Pomesa Cat Scratcher for Indoor Cats-L-Shaped Board & Ramp. Out of the box, the kit contained a set of instructions, wooden frame pieces, a bag of screws, a small Phillips screwdriver, 3 Sisal balls, 1 Sisal scratching pad, 1 piece of string, and 1 Pom Pom. It is a complete kit with everything included that you need to put it together. The scratching board was very Easy to assemble. I am normally “challenged” in assembling things. It only took me about 20 minutes to complete. So believe me when I say, if I was able to do it, anyone can! Once put together, I measured the scratching board at 31.5” high and 17” width. The Sisal mat measured 18.5” Lengthx 11.5” Width. This board can be positioned to stand upright or laid down on an incline. Being able to lay it down is a great feature, as my cat is getting older and it is harder for her to use her upright scratching posts. She was afraid to try it at first, but now hops on readily after sniffing and investigating it for a day. The slim width is great for small spaces. I placed it near furniture that she likes to pick at to hopefully divert her attention and give her something fun to scratch instead. In my photos, you can see that the backside of the board is not reversible. If my cat is happy, I am happy and that makes it a good value. She now has another destination for her mid-night “zoomies” through the house.
Right off the bat my cat knew this was for her lol. It's easy-'enough' to set up (second half took longer because you have to find the screw holes and some of the doweling has them off center), comes with decent instructions and is of adequate quality. The wood itself isn't exactly what I would call heavy-duty, but it does the job just fine - and it is quite lightweight.Unfortunately that means it can tip over rather easily, so I have to put it up against something - thankfully it is light enough it won't actually hurt anything in the process.I had thought the scratch pad was going to be corrugated cardboard, but it turns out it is a woven cloth mat and I'm happy for it because it should hold up for a really long time. Unfortunately, that also means that part of it is less interesting to my cat and she doesn't really care for scratching at it - though she does enjoy rolling the balls at the bottom and started doing it immediately once it was set up - and if I pull down on the puffball string and let it fwing up, I can get some enjoyment out of watching her muck about with it for awhile before she gets bored (the boredom being no fault of the scratch board/ramp!).She's a bit of a flitty kitty anyhow and chases after every random thing - and I think she would probably have been more happy with it had I never put it together (she liked batting around all the parts during assembly), but I like it better this way - so we've had to come to a compromise :P.Overall I think it's not bad for the price, but there are a few things that could be improved like making the base heavier so it doesn't tip and they could do a little better at drilling their dowelling holes - but other than that I'd say my cat likes it well enough to label it as a solid purchase! 😺
This cat scratcher looks great and has been a fun addition to my cat’s toys and accessories collection! It requires full assembly, but it comes with all the hardware and even a small screwdriver. The screwdriver works, but the quality isn’t great. The tip seemed to get stripped pretty quickly so I threw it out after putting the scratcher together and used my own screwdriver to ensure the screws were fully tightened. The wooden frame feels sturdy once assembled though, and the sisal scratching surface gives my cat a good place to scratch. The angled design is great because you can lean it up against a wall or counter sidewall (which I have done) so that it doesn’t fall over! There’s also a hanging pom-pom and rolling rope balls at the bottom that add a bit of playfulness to the scratcher. Overall it’s a simple, well-designed piece that keeps my cat entertained and looks nicer than typical cardboard scratchers. I removed one star because of the quality of the screw driver, but so far it’s holding up well and for the price it’s a decent deal!
I can’t say I full understand sizes of cats because mine are small I would say (both under 4kgs) but they are still adult cats. I ordered the XL stretch board and it’s too short for them to stretch upwards. The board itself is sturdy in design so it supports their weight. They haven’t clawed at the board yet and it’s been about 5 days since I put it together. Which was relatively easy to do. You have a little ball on the top to encourage them to scratch it, but mine are relatively uninterested in it, like they seem to be for most things that are for them anyway.
This cat scratcher seems to be of OK quality: not excellent, not terrible. It's a bit flimsy compared to the cat tower style and would definitely need to be leaned against something. It moves around a lot with any force.I thought my cats would love this. One of them uses the cardboard scratches all the time, and they both really like the twine style on tower cat trees. But even with spraying it with catnip, which usually works, they won't use it. One of them tried to scratch on it a bit, but I think the fabric used wasn't satisfying for him to scratch. It feels sort of like a carpet instead of twine or cardboard. The other one played with the ball on it a little once after spraying it with catnip, but they both haven't used it in days.It was an okay build experience but the instructions have no pictures. Normally the pictures really help me give context to words written for these builds, so I had to look at the ad a lot and other user's pictures to figure out how it went together.I think if you want a scratcher to block a piece of furniture or for certain cats this might be a decent little scratcher, but I wish it had a little more support and was made with different materials so my cats used it more.
Love this L‑shaped wooden scratching board! The sturdy ramp lets my cat stretch, while the hanging ball and three rolling balls keep them entertained for hours. Solid construction, perfect size for indoor kitties, and it blends nicely with decor.
